Hi. You participated in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/USS Watseka (YT-387) which has now closed as "keep". I think it's worth having a more general discussion as to the notability of small noncombatant auxiliaries such as harbour tugs and I have raised this question at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history/Maritime warfare task force#Follow-up. I'm inviting all the AfD participants, both pro and con, to join in with their thoughts on the topic. --A. B. (talk) 17:04, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
This bio had no inline references, typical of short bios, frequently inserted by a descendant doing genealogy. I always put reminders to the naive editors to try to justify what they are saying. This is worse than normal, not even claiming a reference from which is was edited. But you deleted this article comment. I was wondering why. Student7 (talk) 00:50, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Walter E. Reno
editAn editor has nominated Walter E. Reno, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Walter E. Reno and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 17:59, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Wikiships award
editWikiProject Ships Barnstar | ||
For creating an amazing 1,400 articles, most of them relating to maritime topics, I hereby award you this much overdue Wikiships Barnstar! Thankyou for all your hard work, and congratulations, Gatoclass (talk) 06:43, 25 February 2009 (UTC) |
Did you know that George P. Upshur was your 1400th article? Neither did I until I just checked your page creation history :) Anyhow, it seems you are one of those "quiet achievers" who goes about their work behind the scenes without attracting much attention. I've come across many pages created by you in my travels and figured you deserved an award, but haven't got around to it for one reason or another. I think the occasion of your 1400th article is as good a time as any. Congrats :) Gatoclass (talk) 06:43, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

MuGard
editThe Wiki for MuGard was deleted on November 24, 2009 by Jinian for being “Unambiguous advertising or promotion.” The article was not written for marketing purposes, but rather to educate chemotherapy or radiation patients who are seeking treatments for oral mucositis, a common side effect of cancer therapies. The sources that were cited throughout the Wiki for MuGard were credible, ranging from scientific publications to news releases and corporate Web sites belonging to the developer of the product. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
editHello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.
For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:46, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification
editHi. When you recently edited USS Brandenburg (1901), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page British (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

MSU Interview
editDear Jinian,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chlopeck (talk • contribs) 23:03, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

editCoordinates of Monaco
editThis page was deleted because it was considered a duplication of the Geography of Monaco section. However, I believe it is clearly not a duplication of the Geography of Monaco section. 01:50, 6 June 2012 Jinian (talk | contribs) deleted page Iva Keene (A7: Article about a real person, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject)
editHi Jinian,
You deleted my page about Iva Keene on the basis of clause A7.
Here is why I believe the subject of Iva Keene is important:
She is one of the world-wide pioneers in her field (Natural Fertility). She has a proven record of helping countless couples overcome fertility problems naturally. Her work has been formally recognized by awards from Mom's Choice and APEX. She is a successful entrepreneur with a public profile in her field.
For the aforementioned reasons I ask you to please reconsider your decision to remove the article. Many thanks.

Speedy deletion nomination of Samuel W. Preston
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Samuel W. Preston requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ...William 18:59, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
