Windhoek Taxis

edit

Windhoek has large number of taxi drivers. Majority of the taxi drivers drive Toyota Corolla SE Saloon and Volkswagen Citi Golf 1.4i Chico. In 2004 the fare has increase from the then N$5,00(per trip) to N$6,00.[1] The Namibia Bus and Taxi Association's (Nabta) acting National Secretary Sakkie Malima told The Namibian "There have been several fuel increases but our fares have remained constant for a very long, long time." [2] Since 2011 the commuters in Windhoek will have to fork out about N$9 for a ride between two taxi ranks. If one’s destination does not have a taxi rank, like most of the southern suburbs, or if a passenger wants to be dropped at home, N$18 will be charged. [3]
