DoD 5015.02-STD ... This standard is written by the United States Department of Defence (DoD) and references the "Design Criteria Standard for Electronic Records Management Software Applications," November 1997. Originally published in 1997 and updated in 2000, this is an early standard for developing an electronic records management application. A standard for the same purpose was developed for the European Union, and is referred to as the “Model Requirements for the Management of Electronic Records” or MoReq2 standard.

Purpose edit

This standard "Sets forth mandatory...functional requirements for Records Management Application...software used by the DoD...in implementing their records management programs..." Commercial software applications may apply to go through a review process for compliance to the standard.

History edit

In 1993 DoD Records Management was included in developing a document to evaluate electronic records software. The first version of the standard was signed in 1997 and has been reviewed regularly ever since.
