The Alchemy Cycle is a multimedia shared universe with a highly developed legendarium and a conspiracist worldview.
High Concept
editHigh-tech, near future conspiracy thriller with a blockbuster climax at the End of the World.
Overview
editThe Alchemy Cycle is a Theory of Everything, providing a ten billion year secret history which explains not only the reasons for the nature of things today but the influences on the origins of humanity and the fate of civilisations far older than ours.
The heart of the cycle is a tryptic of novels:
The first two, set in 2008 and 2012, tell the story of a very unusual Armageddon and the characters, organisations and ancient alien menances who contribute to it. The third, a prequel set in 1938, fills in many of remaining mysteries from its chronological sequels, presented as a fast-paced action-adventure in the mysterious jungles of Guatemala.
In addition, there are two films (Alchemy, condensing the first two novels, and Astrology) and a stageplay, as well as plans for a graphic novel, several short stories and a variety of online products (including most of the imaginary websites and domains mentioned in the fiction).
Pitches
editThe cycle has been pitched to producers in a variety of media, including:
- The Bestseller Project: an early manifestation of the idea
- Alchemy Cycle Launch: notes towards the planned 06-06-06 launch
- The Alchemy Cycle: a trilogy of novels, to be published from 2009 to 2011
Main Characters
editThe Cycle is self-consciously iconic in its characterisations, evoking biblical, shakespearian and campbellian archetypes.
