As of September 2015, I'm the digital communications manager for the Wikimedia Foundation, where I work on social media and blogs. This is the account I use as a volunteer editor. Accidental cross-pollination has and will occur occasionally. Such mistakes will be promptly corrected in a subsequent edit with an appropriate edit summary.

I've worked in social media and written about it since my 2008-2009 Knight Fellowship to Stanford. After that I led social media for Lowe's Home Improvement, directing a viral campaign for holiday 2010. I also led social media at The San Francisco Chronicle, where I covered the Super Bowl with social media, and took what was once one of the most-liked Vine videos, of a dog riding s scooter. Personally, I tweet about San Francisco, online media and trivia. I take pictures of San Francisco, cool old cars, delicious food and my adorable cat on Instagram.

I've also worked as a reporter and editor for The Wall Street Journal, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, The Charlotte Observer and other media outlets. You can see more about my career on my LinkedIn page.

I'm a native of Nashville, Tenn., where my family owns a used bookstore. One day when I was 19 Johnny Cash walked in and said to me, "Son, where are your books on trains?"
