Jonathan Beutler is an American Foreign Service Officer, or diplomat, who currently works at the Embassy of the United States in Tokyo, Japan. Jonathan has lived in Europe, South America, and Asia, as well as throughout the United States. He is married to Sunny Chen, an international business attorney, and they live with their daughter in Japan.

Jonathan has also served on the Boards of Directors at the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Los Angeles Maritime Museum. He has also been involved in the Pacific Council on International Policy and at the Milken Institute. While a graduate student at UCLA, Jonathan was appointed by Chancellor Gene Block to the university's Faith and Ethics advisory board. Also he served in the University of California's Academic Senate, as a systemwide representative of graduate students from all UC campuses. In the political realm, he was active in Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign and is a co-founder of the national Common Consent PAC.
