Jarryd Pauls is a South African schoolboy who lives in Port Alfred and attends Port Alfred High School. He is 17 years old and his favourite hobbies are sport and spending time with his friends. He is well known in his town and a very popular figure amongst his friends and relatives. He is a born-again Christian.

Pauls recently attended St Andrew's College in Grahamstown, but moved back to Port Alfred (where he grew up) to finish his schooling at Port Alfred High School. He represents the school's first cricket team and is the school tennis champion. He is known to be a solid batsman, and local sporting analyst Chris Avis has publicly likened him to Geoffrey Boycott, the former England and Yorkshire opening batsman. Although criticised for his slow pace through the air, he has also become an effective offspinner, proving this by taking 2 key wickets in the school's opening league match of the 2009-2010 season.
