LILYSTARS RECORDS is an independent record label founded in 2008 in the Philippines by singer-songwriter, Clem Castro[1], also known as Clementine[2], Dragonfly Collector[3], and the present lead vocals of the pop rock band Orange & Lemons. Lilystars by credibility and name cradles indie (pop, rock, folk, alternative, electronic and its derivatives) music. It houses significant local and international indie artists and connects them to the world beyond where music lovers are more receptive to its aesthetics and sensibility.[4] The label's roster includes Orange & Lemons, Bryan Estepa from Sydney, Australia; singer, film actress and director, Alessandra De Rossi under the moniker “ADR”[5]; Dey Rose from Vancouver, Canada; Project Orange, Dustybuns, and many more. The independent label aims to give indie artists the opportunity to immensely unfold in a more thriving music industry beyond our archipelago.[6]
History
editUpon the disbanding of Orange & Lemons in 2007[7][8], Clem pushed forward and formed the band The Camerawalls with Ian Sarabia and Law Santiago.[9][10] As the brains behind the songs from his past to present, he then decided to release his own music independently by the time being. With this came the birth of Lilystars Records in 2008. Founded and gave significant regard to independent music, Clem, the label owner welcomed more artists in his avenue, maintaining the image of being a pro-artist all this time, keeping in its very heart that there is hardship and perseverance in every little triumph that came with pursuing a career in the music industry, he who knew better after everything that transpired in the past.
Lilystars Records is originally based in Quezon City. During the pandemic in 2020, the label was relocated to Bulacan where Clem Castro grew up[11], to cope with the situation and still be able to comply and operate as such time where music has been overflowing while people are on lockdown. The label remaining true to its word, clutched an interesting number of artists over the past year and unceasingly cradles more that conform with the genre it supports which is indie music. Following these are series of releases[12] curated and fashioned into likeability just as bringing to life the record label's reputation in the industry, "Manila's Finest Indie Pop Label!"[13]
