Charli XCX (pictured in 2018) has had more than 300 of her unreleased songs leak onto the internet

The following is a list of songs recorded by English singer-songwriter Charli XCX that have not received a commercial release. The list includes songs self-published via her Myspace profile, studio recordings of songs that may have been intended for release, demos of commercially released songs that are substantially different than their officially released counterparts, and demos for songs that were later recorded and released by other artists.

Charli XCX self-published much of her early work via Myspace beginning in 2008 with the single "Emmeline/Art Bitch". Her first album, 14, was made available on CDs sold at various concerts she performed at as an opening act. Following her signing to Atlantic Records, she would go on to record many demos which would later be leaked online. Later in her career, many of the songs recorded during the sessions for her third studio album would also be leaked, prompting its cancellation. Charli is aware of these leaks in particular, having referenced them frequently in interviews, on social media, and during interactions with fans. One track from the sessions entitled "Taxi" has gained a particular following amongst fans, prompting Charli to add it to her pre-show playlist during the Charli Live Tour in October 2019, playing it before both shows in New York City. In preparation for the Crash Live Tour in 2022, she would ask on Twitter if "someone [could] send [her] the link to xcx world", referencing the title given by fans to a specific collection of leaked tracks recorded during the sessions for her third album including "Taxi", as well as other unreleased fan favourites such as "Come to My Party" and "Bounce" featuring Japanese singer and model Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. The tracks were included on the pre-show playlists for the duration of the tour.

In May 2017, approaching one of several planned release dates for her third studio album, Charli, alongside frequent collaborator and creative director A.G. Cook, wrote and recorded 9 songs in a period of 24 hours. The following day, she would post the titles of the songs recorded to Twitter. While the majority of the songs recorded remain unreleased, the penultimate track, "I Don't Wanna Know", was later included on her third studio album Charli in 2019, and the final track, "I Got It", was reworked and released on her 2017 mixtape Pop 2 featuring American singer Brooke Candy, American rapper Cupcakke, and Brazilian musician and drag queen Pabllo Vittar.

Music released via Myspace edit

Music leaked online edit

  • "Bounce" — Debuted on 20 July 2016 at PC Music's "Pop City" showcase in Los Angeles. The track features production from frequent collaborators Sophie and A.G. Cook. Later versions of the song featured a bridge by Japanese singer and model Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. The song was most notably performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on 3 February 2017 alongside the already released single "After the Afterparty" featuring rapper Lil Yachty. Many have speculated that the song was a contender for the second single from her scrapped third album. Despite the song leaking in mid-2017, Charli would continue to play the song live well into 2018 at afterparties hosted while on her Pop 2 Tour. While many demo versions of the song have leaked, a confirmed final version has yet to surface.
  • "I'm Done" — Played live in a DJ set by the song's producer, Jam City, on 3 June 2018. Jam City would confirm the song's title on Twitter in 2020. Following the song leaking in 2022, Jam City expressed shock on Twitter that the song was leaked. Charli has stated that she has not heard the song.
  • "Round and Round" — Played live at South by Southwest alongside DJ and producer Sophie on 17 March 2016. The song is speculated by many to have been recorded during the sessions for her 2016 EP Vroom Vroom.

Demos of released songs edit

  • "Lavender" — A working title for the song "Used to Know Me" from Charli's fifth album, Crash. The song was originally recorded at a slower tempo and featured an instrumental containing a soft electric guitar and trap drums. The final version of the song speeds up the vocals and juxtaposes them over an instrumental taken from the Robin S. song "Show Me Love", which had been pitched up and altered in order to fit Charli's vocals.

Demos of songs released by other artists edit

  • "Same Old Love" by Selena Gomez — Recorded during a writing camp in Stockholm, Sweden in 2013. The song was originally a soft pop ballad, featuring an instrumental containing mellow guitars and subdued drums. The song was later remade with the same instrumental it was released with. A version of the song was created with Australian rapper Iggy Azalea rapping the first verse of her song "Black Widow" in place of the second verse. The song would later be pitched to, recorded by, and rejected by Barbadian singer Rihanna before being recorded and released by Selena Gomez in 2015.
