Web.http://www.slantmagazine.com/house/article/through-the-years-madonnas-vogue-at-25 This magazine article reviews the cultural, and to some extent queer, impact that Vogue has had on the 25th anniversary of its release. The article examines the song as not just a song, but as a cultural phenomenon. The article covers and reviews several different iterations and iconic performances of the song. These include the music video for Vogue, the MTV Video Music Awards performance, performances of the song during her Blonde Ambition Tour, among many others. This source is useful to my queer object research because it helps to tie Vogue to its associated iconic visuals. Additionally. it helps us to see how transformative the song has been over the years, attesting to its impact and sticking power both within the community and outside of the queer community. This source meets Wikipedia's standards for a credible source because it is a secondary source, published in an established news outlet.

Web. http://sophia.smith.edu/blog/danceglobalization/2012/05/01/voguing-madonna-and-cyclical-reappropriation/ This is an online article that traces, not just the lineage of Madonna's Vogue, but also the lineage of the dance itself. The article examines hows dance and drag culture both inspired Vogue and how Vogue, cyclically, inspired the drag ball scene. This is salient to my research on my queer object because it examines and reveals a larger historical timeline of the queer object. By being able to examine the larger timeline of my queer object, it will make it easier to make an effective judgement about its importance. Additionally, the article examines queer culture directly, adding a lot of relevance in terms of being research for this project. This source meets Wikipedia's standards for a credible source because it is a secondary source, published in an established news outlet.
- Thompson, Nicole. ""The Madonna-Free Zone:" The History of the Harlem Vogue Scene." Latin Post, 09 Jan. 2014. Web. http://www.latinpost.com/articles/5712/20140109/madonna-free-zone-harlem-vogue.htm This is another online article, however this one critiques Vogue and its impacts on queer, specifically Afro-Latino queer, culture.The article outlines how damaging and exploitative Vogue was for the danceball culture that it was inspired from and draws from. This is going to be helpful in my research because it provides and alternative perspective to my research. Most of my current sources (and those above) praise and idolize Vogue's iconic status and vast cultural impact and ubiquity. However, this source provides a more negative and critical view of the queer object, and important perspective to have for this research/assignment. This source meets Wikipedia's standards for a credible source because it is a secondary source, published in an established news outlet.
