Jacmuse is the stage / pen name for Alaskan artist, Joe Craig, who has created a "Cyber School for American Music", the registered jacmuse.com website has for the past five years has provided music theory content for interested learners. The original core e-text is titled "Tonal Resources For The Creative Musician." After writing the text and shopping for offers to have the work published and distributed as a paper text, industry evolution created a global solution which Joe readily seized upon. Since it's launch in 2005, the site has generated a bit of traffic from our global community of music theorists, with readers interacting by email with the author. The current project under work is an e-edition of Joe's "Essentials Of Modern Guitar." This guitar based theory guide looks at the various styles of American music and how the theory of each gradually morphs into another as select pitches are added to our core American group of pitches. A fascinating study in and of itself, the power of the e-book brings so much of the theory to life simply by energizing the written musical examples within the text with its mp3 playback file. And as so much of our American sounds can be improvised, Joe's 'stream of consciousness' style of writing creates the perfect compliment to the e-books magic, whereby the hyperlink text allows readers the ability to create their own learning path as determined by the existing information they bring to the learning process. Joe hopes to have this work up and running online by January 2020.
