My Musical Background And Outlook edit
I rarely consider my own music. I aspire to use my knowledge of music to score video games. Video games have been a part of my life since childhood, and some of my earliest musical experiences came from them. I intend to be a mercenary composer, a craftsman more than an artist. Scoring is about fulfilling the needs of the situation, not necessarily creating meaningful art (although good scoring in any medium is certainly an art form). My music is a product, and I intend to be the one to sell that product to a game development team. That’s the plan. I feel as though some of my music fits the description above, but I wasn’t drawn to music because I wanted to make money. I began playing guitar when I turned 12, and I will always feel at home with a guitar in my hands. To the mercenary composer, the guitar is another tool in the utility belt. To a more emotionally grounded part of myself, the guitar was my gateway to the musical world, my home. I’ve spent my formal education learning how to write good music for other people, and rarely considered writing artistic music for myself. I’m not certain as to why.
Proposed Topics For Addition edit
1. A new article detailing the idea of the "Lawsuit Guitar". Throughout the years, many guitar companies have sold thinly disguised copies of classic guitars (usually Fender or Gibson models). Even famous and reputable makers like PRS and Ibanez have been taken to court over lawsuit models. The article would properly define the term "lawsuit guitar", and provide examples.
2. An addition to the "Dynamic Music" article in wikipedia. The article as it is lacks substance, and it would benefit from more examples of dynamic game scoring techniques.
3. A new article on the Klon Centaur. A now legendary overdrive pedal, original Klon Centaurs fetch prices of 2,000 dollars or more. The article would discuss how a one-man operation created a true cult following among guitarists, and how numerous pedal companies have tried to "klone" the circuit.
Since posting this, a page on the Klon Centaur has surfaced. I will add to this page.
