Leyla Turkkan article edit

re Leyla Turkkan article, do you suggest I do a revision and then resubmit it? I totally get the comments re making it more factual and not "peacock" words. I guess I'm a little perplexed as to the process here, because so many people looked at it and made comments. I'm going to the Tea Room now to see what's what. Any guidance you have re how to help this article fit into Wikipedia guidelines - I welcome it!! Thanks, Julia — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juliaerickson (talkcontribs) 18:05, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi Julia,
Yes, definitely revise and resubmit. Hit me back when you've had a chance to do it and I'll take a look. Thanks! Julie JSFarman (talk) 13:38, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi JS, I resubmitted and have now been rejected because of sources. There are many sources, not sure which are not adequate, or which things need to be cited. As you know, so much was not written down during that time... Are there any insights you can offer me? Thanks Juliaerickson (talk) 23:03, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi again @Juliaerickson: - I responded to your message at the bottom of this page yesterday, and made some quick changes to the article which are detailed below. However, @LaMona: reviewed the article at great length and gave you specific guidance, even indicating some of the statements which need sources with [citation needed]. There is a ton of information included in the submission and very little of it can be verified. Prove it or take it out. Please read LaMona's review, and also read WP:VERIFY. Julie JSFarman (talk) 02:00, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the response, Julie! I couldn't find the message you sent yesterday - still getting used to working on this platform. I will see what I can tell from @LaMona: response. Best Juliaerickson (talk) 02:34, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi JSFarman -

Thank you again for taking the time to review my article and answer my questions about my last resubmission. Per your recommendations, I edited the draft to reflect a smaller scope and establish notability. I removed all information that is not supported by reliable sources and I also added a discography list to support his notability in the music industry. As you mentioned in your last message, when you search for Jacob, a lot of blogs/gossip sites come up. However, I was able to find a few additional sources, but a lot of articles are not available online because of the time when they were written. I hope I was able to properly establish his notability in the entertainment industry given the available resources. Thank you again for your time. I hope to hear from you soon.

10squared (talk) 19:25, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi again 10squared (talk. THe edit is solid (thanks for doing that) but his notability hasn't been establiished. References don't need to be online; if you have citations from valid, reliable sources that provide extensive coverage you can use them. Check out WP:CITE for guidance.
Also - I think you need to mention his father since you use an article about him to support the article.
Thanks for your patience - apologies for the delay - I've been getting crazy obsessive working on a couple of articles! Julie JSFarman (talk) 17:46, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

Khaki Jones edit

hi and thank you so much. I'm new here obviously and really appreciate your thoughtful kind words. I seem to be putting out fires mostly since I've been targetted as a sock? not sure what a sock is but apparently looking up and smiling at people makes me a tourist here. sorry. sorry for saying sorry. do you know how I can get unsocked? am guessing this means someone is pretending to be me or something? I can assure you this is me, although you don't care since you don't know me. sigh. in any case thank you. I am looking for someone to adopt me, which is to say help write this article about animation writing pioneer Khaki Jones. would you be willing to take a look? thanks again, I liked your article in Spin. cool stuff. glad you're still writing. best, AnneAsdiprizio (talk) 16:22, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi Anne, I looked at your contributions/talk pages to see where you were accused of being a sockpuppet and didn't find anything. (Sockpuppets are mulitiple accounts created by a single user generally to advocate for a specific point of view, or just to vandalize, etc.) It looks like you may have been blocked on Commons??
I'll help you with the article. It might take me a minute, but let's get it done! I'll leave some notes on the draft.
I'm sorry you haven't felt more welcomed -- the community here can be a bit prickly, which sucks. But if you stick around (and your intentions are good) it'll pass. My experience has been that editors want to help people, and everyone is happy when a new editor keeps editing; I know for sure that I am.
I hadn't read that article from Spin in ages. I like it too. It's definitely a memento of the past...the way back days when record companies had money to spend on journalists! Thanks for getting in touch. Julie JSFarman (talk) 20:12, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

I was so happy when I read your message here, thank you! apparently I was blocked on commons because the images I created were tagged as trying to advertise ??!! which is pretty funny if it weren't actually wrong and resulted in blocking me. I think a kind person is helping sort that out. thank you so much for your encouragement and help. Asdiprizio (talk) 14:30, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

Misspent Youth Band edit

Hi Julie In regards to our previous conversation regarding UK Punk Rock Band Misspent Youth article. Here is what I have been able to find: Misspent Youth single `Betcha Wont Dance` was reviewed in 1979 at the time of release by Melody Maker & Sounds, their album retrospective `The Punk Years 1976-1980` was reviewed in Record Collector Magazine UK December 2002 pg 135. These are three important UK Journals that are respected worldwide. I have a copy of the Record Collector magazine itself however I am not sure how to access Melody Maker & Sounds archives for their references? The `Bored Teenagers` Website is run by David `Dizzy` Holmes who is one of the UK`s foremost collectors of Punk Rock and has also run Detour Record company (which has 5 label offshoots) and has hundreds of releases over 25 years, `punk77` is also an authoritative `go to` for information on the UK Punk Scene which I notice is quoted as an external link on Wikipedia`s `Punk Rock` page (would this be the way to go for those references to use as an external link?). As you probably already know UK/USA Punk Rock was a worldwide phenomenon which lasted between 1976 & 1980 but changed the music scene and had a massive influence on youth culture + trends at the time, any artist who released a punk rock record in this period (especially on an independent label) is of interest across the globe so much so that it has become a huge Record Collectors market. As I often use Wikipedia to find information on bands myself I noticed that there are several important ones not covered it was my aim to write about some of these so that Wikipedia could become a central point of reference for this scene and other such `scenes`. I am just starting to get concerned about how many references I am going to need to achieve this, the authority of them and how I might access such. In light of this as this is my first article any more suggestions would be most helpful? Mr Bubbles (Geoff Bubbles (talk) 11:51, 5 October 2015 (UTC)).

Hello (Geoff (talk). You can add the citations without having a URL - just use all of the details that you have regarding the article (publication, author, date, title, page - etc.). Punk77 is good as a source, but Bored Teenagers isn't - it wouldn't be considered reliable (and I'm not sure that it would be independent) - see WP:RELIABLE. If you have three solid references for the band the article should stick.
I agree that there are some huge omissions; as a fan I know that there are hugely influential bands/records that aren't in Wikipedia because the references simply don't exist. (I am certain of notability personally but unable to demonstrate it as required.)
I've been slammed this week and haven't had a chance to do much research but I'll get on it. Are there other artists you're interested in?!? Thanks! Julie JSFarman (talk) 17:42, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

Misspent Youth Band edit

Hi Julie Thanks again! I have now deleted `Bored Teenager` references as advised and added a couple of stronger references making four all together, I hope this fills the criteria. I will add a couple more references regarding `Melody Maker` & `Sounds` when I am able to, I need to be more specific obviously than just the year (I will try the central library as soon as I can get there). In the meantime is it possible for you to review the article and move it to the main site or do I have to send it in for review myself? You asked what other bands I was interested in writing about? One article I was looking to write is on `Anti-Social` who caused a storm amongst the press when they offered fifteen thousand pounds to any person who would commit suicide on stage at one of their concerts (glad to say no one took them up on their offer) they released a single called `traffic lights` which has become one of the Holy-Grails of punk rock collecting. I am also fascinated by the late 60`s Garage bands era of the US. I Cant find any Wikipedia mention of the US Band `Pugsley Munion` (members later worked with Boston & Heart) or `Christopher` Then there`s the psych/prog bands of the early 70`s, the `Fire` (who became The Strawbs) their page could use more info, no mention of `Titus Groan` (signed to the Dawn label) or `The Spectres` who later became Status Quo. This was another golden age for music. So again appreciate your help and advice Kind regards Geoff (Geoff Bubbles (talk) 20:52, 5 October 2015 (UTC))

Sorry for the delay. I would like to say that I've been busy but it's really because I went completely down the rabbit hole on a completely random article. (The subject is really cool, but I've been a bit obsessive about it.) ANYWAY. I will look at Misspent Youth tomorrow (and respond more approrpiately to this message -- I'm very psyched about the possiblity of an article on Anti Social! Misspent Youth Band edit

Hi Julie Thanks again for your time. It seems on further research that the British Library might hold back copies of the major music papers such as Melody Maker, Sounds, NME etc I have written to them and they have promised a reply ASAP. Yes looking forward to starting article no 2 on `Antisocial` band hopefully after my experiences with `Misspent Youth` band article it might be a little easier to complete. Looking forward to your reply on new `Misspent Youth` version with the new supported quotes. Kind Regards Geoff (Geoff Bubbles (talk) 18:05, 12 October 2015 (UTC))

In response to your review on my Draft:Kenneth Earl Medrano edit

Hi there JSFarman!!!! In regards to my response regarding on reviewing my draft "Kenneth Earl Medrano", certainly I want to say Thank You for reviewing my draft even though you decline it. But I want to clarify with you regarding to your comment about the notability of the subject you stated "He doesn't meet the notability as a model, actor, or singer". I will made more clarifications of it to you by means of explanation. First, the subject is very known by people through his talent, he started as a local talent & professional model in Cebu. It was added when his name was known to many when he made "dubsmash" videos especially the song "Twerk it Like Miley" by Brandon Beal on which among all of his videos he posted, is very known viral on social media. That is why the people was known on him when he was guested on an episode of "KJMS10: Twerk It Like Miley". So the subject is existed and it has a notability.

Second, about your comment regarding to the statement "That among All of the references are related to That's My Bae". Yes, it is very true that all of its references are related to the statement "That's My Bae" since Medrano join the competition together with other men who first discovered their talents in the internet. Aside of his talents he showed on various social media sites like singing, he has a talent of dancing as well. And the subject is very factual, understandable to everyone since this person is very well-known here in the Philippines in regards of posting "dubsmash videos" & he was known to many as the "Dubsmash King" here in the Philippines. Generally, he became the "Grand Winner" of the competition and earned a grand prize, his achievements is the primary key on which people offered him new opportunities like involving into his abilities in acting. Even though this person is a new one in the world of entertainment, but he is very known to many especially in his hometown before he entered showbiz & join the contest.

I've been working this draft for a very long time checking all of the errors on it and at this point, all of the references of him are verifiable, reliable & has an accuracy, very factual and non-biased. Instead, I fixed its references by your suggestion of adding a "citation" notes on my draft in order to be understandable & easily to find its links. Thanks for your suggestion and assisting me on this matter. Highly much appreciated.
- Mystywave18 (talk) 07:36, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi Mystywave18 (talk), and sorry for the delay - I've been traveling.
I understand what you're saying, and it's obvious that a lot of great work has gone into the draft. But it doesn't change my perspective on the suitability of the article for Wikipedia. You don't have to go through AfC, you know -- you can just publish the article directly. Just use the move tab on the top of the page and move the article to the article space under the title Kenneth Earl Medrano. I think it is likely to be nominated for deletion, but maybe at this point you should take your chances with the community. Multiple reviewers have had the same concerns, and short of finding more references (from reliable independent sources) there's not a lot of advice I can offer. JSFarman (talk) 18:49, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Misspent Youth Band edit

Hi Julie Now received reply from British Museum, they do hold UK Music Papers on file however they are not available via the internet. This will mean a trip to London (a long way from me). I think prudence dictates that I research several subjects at once if I take such a trip to make it worthwhile. In the meantime I have completed the Misspent Youth article with relevant available references, would appreciate it if you could let me know the final outcome. Kind regards Geoff (Geoff Bubbles (talk) 08:52, 15 October 2015 (UTC))

Hi again Geoff Bubbles - I did what I could with the article and published it. I'm not sure if it will stick or not, but I hope it does - I put a tag on it saying that more references are needed - I'll keep looking for sources. (Sorry about the brevity - I'm traveling.) Julie

15:23:01, 15 October 2015 review of submission by Sarahgrieve651 edit

Hi there, many thanks for your review. Just wondering where you would like to see further citations? Is it the award listings that are the issue? In the previous review I was told not to use news sources that had obviously regurgitated First Names Group press releases, but unfortunately it is proving difficult to find other online references to the company's older award wins as listings are no longer available and/or have been replaced by more recent listings. Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Hi Sarahgrieve651: It's not an issue of citations, and I apologize if my comment was confusing - it was secondary to the issue of notability. The primary concern with the article is that notability hasn't been established -- you need multiple references which provide extensive coverage via independent reliable sources. The refs you've used aren't adequate. See WP:NCORP for details. Thanks, Julie

Hi Julie Many many thanks for your help in setting up my 1st article and helping create the page, appreciate the adjustments and additions. Also I know you guys are volunteers just like myself and time can be hard to find. I know have the incentive to move on with my next article, Anti Social Band being the next one. Many thanks for your suggestions edit

Dear Julie JSFarman,

Many thanks for your suggestions concerning the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Antoine_Suarez

I have now resubmitted the draft. In the section “References” and also in the text I have added references about him of independent sources (books, magazines, journals, papers). I think these references confirm that he has contributed to science, anthropology,

bioethics and theology with relevant achievements. His work shows how science may contribute to clarify crucial

philosophical and theological questions: In my view this fact deserves to be featured in Wikipedia to the benefit of

the readers. In any case, after publication by Wikipedia the article still remains open to possible criticisms and corrections on

the part of qualified experts.

I highly appreciate your proposal to looking for a reviewer with experience in this area, and thank you in advance for

your endeavor.

Best wishes — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nic4711 (talkcontribs) 18:30, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi there,

Are there any particular sections of this article that you feel aren't properly cited/referenced?

I have more recent news and press coverage that can be added to this page to fill it out more - but was wondering if there were any existing sections you'd recommend either taking out or finding more sources for?

Thanks in advance Joel

Joeljfreeman (talk) 21:56, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi Joeljfreeman (talk), It's not that the sections aren't properly cited or referenced, it's that there aren't references which establish her notability. Triple J is good, but the others don't provide the extensive coverage that's required. Think at least three paragraphs that are specifically about Emmi from independent, reliable sources. See WP:NMUSIC for specifics and add the meatier press. Thanks! Julie JSFarman (talk) 22:28, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Thanks Julie, good to know! I've resubmitted the page with additional coverage from Clash Magazine, Buzzfeed, Complex, Huffington Post, BBC & The Great Escape Festival - hopefully this helps.

Wikipedia is quite literally one of the references. She has been on Broadway and a title character on a TV show starring John Goodman. What is the reason for the denial?

Hello. Wikipedia is, quite literally, not a reliable source, and even if it was, it would not establish her notability. To establish notability, you need extensive coverage from independent, reliable sources or meet the criteria outlined here. The reason for the denial is that the references you used provide only trivial coverage or are not from valid sources. (IMDb is not considered reliable.) I just did a search and didn't find much, but these would be a better place to start: Giles County Native Gets Role in Alpha House or this article from the same paper. Thanks for your contribution! Hey, I've done my best at updating several parts of the article where I can. Unfortunately there's a lot of context missing from the various news articles, making it difficult to figure out it's relevance in comparison to other video hosts.

Request on 10:30:52, 12 July 2016 for assistance on AfC submission by MrAliMcCall edit

MrAliMcCall (talk) 10:30, 12 July 2016 (UTC)

Hi JSFarman-thanks for reviewing my article. I understand the point you make about the article being self referential. I have a good deal of external material about Vajrasati yoga but it is in magazines and not online. I can, of course date and reference the magazines if this is sufficient? Thanks! Ali MrAliMcCall (talk) 10:30, 12 July 2016 (UTC)

Hi MrAliMcCall (talk)- References don't have to be online. You can cite sources with the publication/book/journal name, the author, date published, page number, etc. It needs to include enough information that a user could locate the source. Thanks! Julie

Help with MDC Partners? edit

Hi I've been reaching out to active editors of the Marketing & Advertising Wikiproject, because I need assistance with an article that falls under that project's scope. The article is MDC Partners, an ad agency holding company. I posted a new draft to the Talk page earlier this summer, and it has been partially implemented, but the editor I was working with has not been back to discuss the rest of the changes. Would you have any time or interest in taking a look? As a full disclosure, I have a financial conflict of interest and created the draft on behalf of MDC Partners (though I aimed to remain neutral and used independent sourcing). I won't make changes myself and am very open to feedback! Thanks! Heatherer (talk) 14:45, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

Hello, Heatherer (talk), and thanks for your disclosure and for asking! I've edited with a COI before, and I've stopped doing it for the most part because it's so difficult to see where you've compromised neutrality. The sandbox version of your article is an example of how challenging it is - you're obviously experienced with Wikipedia - if you didn't have a COI you'd realize the article doesn't maintain NPOV.
You need to remove most of the adjectives, and definitely the superlatives as well as any of the content which promotes MDC. What's encyclopedic, and what's not? Also, be cautious with forward-looking statements - my rule of thumb is that if it's not appropriate for an SEC filing, it's not appropriate for Wikipedia. Glad to take another look after you've edited. Thanks again for asking. Jule JSFarman (talk) 15:06, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for the feedback. I completely understand how reviewing is more challenging when there is a COI. I'm going to comb through and remove any extraneous language. I'd love to have you take another look after I'm done. Thanks so much for offering! Heatherer (talk) 16:17, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
Hi again! Here's the updated draft. I left in only the two sections that still need to be added to the article. I've done my best to remove or rewrite any phrasing that I thought might be problematic. Please let me know if there is anything else I should rework. Thanks! Heatherer (talk) 18:54, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
Hello, Heatherer (talk). The draft is better (although I would still make some changes) - but the current article is stronger; I'm not sure why we'd replace the current article with this draft. Can you work your proposed changes into the current article (in a sandbox, not live)? Thanks, Julie JSFarman (talk) 00:20, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
Hello! Sorry for the confusion—what I'd saved to my user space was just the remaining proposed sections to be added into the article, not what I was proposing for the entire article. To make things clearer, I've now added the rest of the article into my draft space. This draft includes everything currently in the article, plus my proposed additional sections. Please make any edits you think are needed! Thanks so much for your help, Julie! Heatherer (talk) 19:20, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
Hi again, I replaced the version in your userspace with an edit but the refs kept getting messed up - I ran out of time trying to fix them - if you will I'll switch out the text. Thanks, sorry, too early for me. JuileJSFarman (talk) 13:44, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
Hi Julie. I finally figured out what was up with the references and I'm pretty sure I fixed them. Want to try again when you have a chance? Thanks so much! Heatherer (talk) 13:32, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Hello! Just making sure you saw my last message. Thanks! Heatherer (talk) 15:29, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi Heatherer (talk)- I did see it, left you a message below. It was still showing up with ref errors. I manually took out the first five ref names - no crazy red error marks but several show up multiple times - if you want to fix that it's maintenance, you can feel free...! Otherwise I made a few new edits and switched out the texts. Mission accomplished I think. Julie

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Russell Emanuel, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page MCA. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sofia Rei edit

Thanks for working on the Sofia Rei draft! Hope you don't mind, I tagged it as a product of the editathon for easier tracking of results via Category:Articles created or improved during WikiConference North America, 2016. - Brianhe (talk) 02:50, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

Not at all, Brianhe (talk)! I did work on it while I was in San Diego, but it's her mother that's the philosopher. I started researching her mom, found Sofia, and, well there you have it. (Once I started on Sofia, I discovered that there was no article on Mycale, and so it goes...) Thanks! Julie JSFarman (talk) 03:07, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

WikiConference 2016 & New Article edit

Hi Julie, I was so happy to meet you at the 2016 Wiki Conference here in San Diego. The conference inspired me to spend a couple of days creating new articles. The first, Steve Kowit seems to be live. The second, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Thomas_Mooney_(Chaplain), is awaiting approval. I think I see what I did "wrong." I just winged it with the first one and created the Article. With the second, I created a Draft first, and then submitted as Article. Is there any way to streamline the approval process? Also, any tips you may have for improving either or both articles would be gratefully accepted by me. Hope you had fun in San Diego. Still wondering how your evening went? --Patty Mooney (talk) 00:38, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Help Re: Outdated Article edit

Hi JSFarman,

I have been reaching out to a handful editors on Wikipedia that have an established track record with advertising / marketing brand articles for music related companies, and haven’t had a lot of luck. Came across your talk page as I’ve seen your contributions to several music industry related articles. I would love to solicit your guidance in making updates to an existing article.

The article is for Downtown Music Publishing, a music rights management company, based in New York. The company’s article is incredibly outdated, and reflects incorrect information. I must disclose that I have a financial COI with the company, and do not want to introduce these edits without a certified editors endorsement. I have taken the liberty to do some homework and collect many of these data points + resources to update and dropped them in my sandbox, while trying to do my best in maintaining a neutral voice.

I noticed on the article's history, there have been several unsolicited editors attempting to make unencyclopedic edits in the past. Since I want to go about this in the correct way that's most beneficial to the greater community, I won't make any of these changes myself. If you could take a peek and begin a dialogue of how this page can be updated, I'd greatly appreciate it. I welcome copy and structural changes.

Thank you! Rheaghosh (talk) 19:48, 14 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi Rheaghosh (talk), I'm glad to help - I'll take a look at it! Thanks for asking. Future ref it's good to link to your sandbox when you're referencing a draft as otherwise it can only be found through your contributions. (I found it!) JSFarman (talk) 23:20, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
Hi again Rheaghosh (talk) - I made changes directly to your sandbox - there was some hype and unnecessary info. I also added some refs. The section about the artists who've recorded at Downtown Studios isn't cited - you need to find references there. Otherwise, take a look, correct typos and factual errors - otherwise I think it's solid and I'm happy to switch out the text. Julie JSFarman (talk) 17:55, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
Hello JSFarman (talk) - you've been incredibly helpful. Thank you. I've gone through the post and made several minor spelling and grammar changes. I've also removed several facts that were a) irrelevant to the company or b) couldn't be properly sourced. I will continue to look up sources, and as facts can be verified, can continue to work with you to update the page. What do you suggest are next steps? Rheaghosh (talk) 18:05, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
It looks good, I may make a change or two but will update the article as soon as I get a minute - happy to help and thanks for persevering - I know it's challenging. JSFarman (talk) 19:50, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
Rheaghosh (talk), I just switched out the text. I also moved the page to Downtown (company) as it's no longer about just the publishing division. Done, I think, although I will reread it later. JSFarman (talk) 18:19, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review needs your help edit

Hi JSFarman,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

File:Tess Rafferty, Recipe for Disaster Set.png edit

Hi JSFarman. I'm reviewing the permissions information for File:Tess Rafferty, Recipe for Disaster Set.png, and I just wanted to clarify something before I add the {{PermissionOTRS}} template. In the file description for the image, the source field currently reads "It was available online". We need a more specific source to verify the permission. I did a reverse image search for the image, but it didn't turn up any hits. Do you think you could find the URL of the website where you obtained the image? We just need to understand where this picture came from, whether it's online or from the owner directly. Thanks! Mz7 (talk) 02:50, 9 December 2016 (UTC)

Hi Mz7, it came from her Facebook page, but I just looked for it there and couldn't find it. I think I'm just missing it - she has a lot of photos from over the years. I'll keep looking if necessary. Thank you so much. Julie JSFarman (talk) 15:33, 9 December 2016 (UTC)

Aha! I did a little poking, and I found it on Bernadette Pauley's Facebook: link. I will add the necessary modifications to the file description page. Thanks! Mz7 (talk) 15:41, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
Aha back Mz7! Very cool, I wouldn't have thought to do that! Thanks again. JSFarman (talk) 15:49, 9 December 2016 (UTC)

I'm leaving myself a message.

Hi JSFarman,

I am hoping to get a little guidance. I have more news articles etc. on the subject but I thought the Tribeca film festival, Sundance and the New York times were the most notable so I actually reduced the reference links. Could you please help me with a more clear path for the creative professional article to be established? I was working to follow the guidelines below but it seems I may not be on the correct path. Your help is appreciated!

Thank you

Authors, editors, journalists, filmmakers, photographers, artists, architects, and other creative professionals:

  1. The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors.
  2. The person is known for originating a significant new concept, theory, or technique.
  3. The person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. In addition, such work must have been the primary subject of an independent and notable work (for example, a book, film, or television series, but usually not a single episode of a television series) or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews.
  1. The person's work (or works) either (a) has become a significant monument, (b) has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) has won significant critical attention, or (d) is represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums.

Hi RPSavory. While I appreciate that you've included the criteria here, it would be helpful if you could indicate which of the criteria Rhea Scott meets. None of the references used establish notability; Wikipedia and IMDb aren't reliable sources (and you've used Wikipedia five times) and the IMDb ref is to an article on David Hinojosa. Pablove is a fantastic charity, but not an independent or reliable source; creativity-online provides only a videography/filmography; the NY Time article doesn't appear to mention her (might be my eyes but I'm not going to read it again, because even if it did, it doesn't provide the extensive coverage required); the Ad Age article barely mentions her (and when it does it's a direct quote). Etc. Wikipedia requires multiple references which cover the subject of the article extensively and specifically -- not trivially - and the references must be from reliable, independent sources.

    • As for the other criteria, in my opinion (and based on search):
    • Important figure, widely cited by peers? Not according to search results
    • Originating a significant concept, etc? Not according to search results
    • Co-creating a significant or well known work, etc? I'm sure they're great films, but her role as a co-producer (or production company), to me, doesn't constitute a major role in a creative or significant or collective body of work.
    • Monument, etc: No.
    • PS: Daughter-in-law of Ridley Scott has no impact on notability.

Just so you know, my goal in reviewing articles is to accept them, particularly when the submission is about a woman or non-binary person, as it helps to address the gender gap on WP. But the person needs to meet notability. If I have missed something, address it in the draft, and resubmit. Thanks. JSFarman (talk) 12:26, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

Request on 21:28:21, 5 October 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by Mpainter701 edit

Its been states that my article is not meeting notability requirements. How many sources must I cite to justify that requirement? What else shall i do?

Mpainter701 (talk) 21:28, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi Mpainter701. It's not the number of sources that you use, it's the quality of the sources. In order to meet the inclusion criteria, Kevin Jade Foster needs to have been written about extensively in reliable, independent sources. If you have multiple references (minimum of 3), you can establish his notability. See here for information on sources, and here for notability requirements. JSFarman (talk) 02:52, 6 October 2017 (UTC)

My article is not using independent sources? edit

Hello,

I was trying 3 times to publish the article about the company where I work. I thought it would be a good idea to be visible on Wikipedia especially company is growing etc. But 3 times application has been declined. I leave it this for a while. But as I researching the market all the time, I found 2 articles made by competitors which don't have references or they are using the same sources which I was using (which are not independent in the opion of reviewers ). I knew that my company will support some charity organisations in the future, so hopefully, I will be able to add independent sources.

Below is a link to my page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:April_UK And these are to links to the competitors which in my humble decision should be published. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Friendly https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health-on-Line

If you could tell me what you are thinking about it. Is it fair, or not.

Kind regards, Gresgosh — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gresgosh (talkcontribs) 11:31, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi Gresgosh, please see instructions on editing Wikipedia with a conflict of interest. Thanks, Julie JSFarman (talk) 21:05, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi Julie JSFarman, Thank you for picking up something that was not been the case. What hasn't been included in the topic. Looks like everything been twisted around. I tried to say that there are different health insurance companies who don't have resources at all, but because they have been created by users who have got 180K contributions been added without checking, so basically what I need to do is to contact with such user and "ask" for creating the article for me. Piece a cake. Thank you for your time Julie JSFarman have a lovely weekend. Kind regards, Gregory Gresgosh

10:05:28, 23 October 2017 review of submission by Zimbetsincer edit

Hello, please, I will need your help. I have added more reliable sources as you mentioned and I would like to request a review in order to tell me what else I can improve in the article. Thank you very much for your support.

Hi Zimbetsincer, sorry for the delay. I just took a quick look at the draft and it appears to be much improved. I don't have time to go through it all right now, but you need to be careful that you're not using references that are based entirely on press releases (and/or anything that comes from PR Newswire). They references need to be completely independent. I can spend some time on it in about two weeks, but hopefully someone else will review it between now and then. Thanks! How to fix erors edit

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Mark_Durbin

Hi and thank you for reviewing my article for submission. I hope I didn't accidentally re-submit, as I was searching around for answers, because it looks like it might have been rejected twice? Anyway, I'm not quite sure why this was declined. I have viewed other Wiki entries for actors, that are listed, and they only have one reference to that person on IMDb and maybe one other article. Any help would be appreciated because I referenced several online sources for this person. Do I need to put those reference links under the external links section as well? I have read quite a lot of the help sections to try to figure it out but I am at a loss for how to change this. I don't want to waste your time further by trying to edit and re-submit if I still don't have it correct. Thank you. I appreciate your time and help.

Hi. I fixed the format errors, which were very minor! The article looks great.
In order to establish notability, the references need to provide extensive coverage specifically about Mark Durbin via independent reliable sources. His inclusion in the articles about the murder of his friend don't establish his own notability, and his credits -- impressive though they are -- don't indicate notability. Also, IMDb isn't an independent or reliable source (since the content is often contributed by the subject of the entries).
There are probably thousands of articles on Wikipedia that are poorly sourced or on subjects that don't meet the inclusion criteria! In a lot of cases, it's because they were created when the standards were less stringent. Most of the time, those articles end up deleted (or tagged, at the very least). See WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS.
