Hello Saganaki; fancy seeing you on this page as well. Anyway, just to repeat the response I posted on the talk page for Joyous!, I added the page with the initial copy. Would appreciate some actual clarification as to why the article is considered objectionable.
Highland Society Deletion edit
Could you please explain why you speedy deleted the page on the Otago University Highland and Gaelic Society. From what I could make out it is because you consider the Society not notable? If this is indeed the case I disagree strongly. The Society is indeed notable.
Its campaigns have appeared regularly in national media in New Zealand and I would have though that would be enough notability in itself. Some of its aims have even seen fruition in influencing University management in course creation. They are also notable in being one of the few groups teaching the otherwise dying Gaelic language in New Zealand. If this does not meet the notability criteria I'm not really sure what you're looking for.
Further, the original members of the Society have recently left, and this history risks being lost forever. Wikipedia will be a richer and more useful resource with its inclusion. I hope you review your decision.

You deleted a page of that I made edit
Excuse Me,
You deleted a page that I tried to contribute. I know it was a small page, but it took me 90 minutes to do. I'm not trying to be mean or ignorant or even get kicked off of here, but there are lesser known skateboarders than joe weber that have pages on here, and I even see no name dvd and internet porn stars that have their own page.
I know the guy doesnt love media attention but im almost positive this site can not get in trouble.
So, I am sorry, I just dont know what I did wrong, and if I really did something wrong could you tell me what it was cause he is my favorite skater, and he really is better than about a fifth of the skaters that have articles.

Thank you for responding about the deletion of the joe weber pro skateboard article, im sorry about how I acted, it wasnt that important, i was just a little upset cause it took me a while to gather most of the facts and make the article. Anyway, he's more of a North East Us skater, mainly popular in the under ground skate community, not like an X-games guy. But, I did the google search and only got 4 links about him telling very very little, so I understand about the Wikipedia thing. So once again I'm sorry and thank you for explaining. I did see him in a seen with Ryan Dunn and Bam Margera in Jackass number Two on Friday, He might even be credited in the movie so check that out if you are interested. Im not saying that for you to put the article back up, just want you to know I'm not making stuff up.

Could you please explain to me why you deleted the page Dennis Pethers that I created. Surely he is classed as a man of notibility? He is an author, and the founder of a well established Christian organisation. He certainly passes the Google test too. You did not provide any explanation for the deletion of this page; I would appreciate it if you did so. I do not see that his notability should be an issue, and I'm sure lots of people would like to read more about the man and contribute to the article.

Also, you are deleting them with the edit summary "db-bio", which I surmise to be CSD criterion A7, not G11. Normally I support admin discretion for speedy deletion, but in this case you are going against consensus when you delete articles with "keep" AFDs, so you need to justify your actions. —Quarl (talk) 2006-10-05 09:40Z
- My Wikibreak had nothing whatsoever to do with my deleting or tagging for deletion articles about non-notable porn stars. I will continue to be cautious in my use of admin abilities; however, as my AfD states, I still strongly feel that the article which started this discussion ought to be deleted, so this isn't an issue of carelessness. (I will be especially careful to check for AfDs on other articles.) G11 clearly applies in some cases, and less so in others; except on those articles which were composed in the first person, it's generally not as strong a stance as notability, but again, many of them seem suspiciously promotional. Chelsea Charms' article has artifacts that suggest such a promotional nature too, with the text at the bottom of the article claiming copyright over the photo. That seems like the step one would take if they were not really familiar with Wikipedia, and were awfully concerned about preserving the rights over the content (i.e., the owner of Chelsea Charms' site, or an employee). But that sort of "doesn't it look suspicious?" argument doesn't hold as much weight as "she has big boobs... and?". My point was more a general one: G11 opens the door slightly wider to the deletion of certain pages in this genre.
- In general I've been using the WP:PORNBIO framework in guiding my deletions, combined with my common sense and judgment, so again, it's not willy-nilly, I promise. And I'm a reasonable guy: I'm willing to discuss any deletion I make. I don't have a Golden Mop Complex about admin stuff; I know everyone makes mistakes once in a while, including me, and am more than willing to undelete if I'm convinced I've made an error. - Per responsiveness: if I was overzealous, I obviously want to find the "Zealous" knob and turn it down, so sure, I'm absolutely open to feedback. In regards to machine-gunning, I will try to be less M-60 and more M-82, slowing and providing more meaningful deletion summaries. I just wanted to second the comments from Quarl - I've very, very rarely seen articles speedy deleted that have survived AfD and all of those deletions have been Office or Jimbo type actions. I think its a great idea for you to re-open AfD discussions and point out the fallacies in the first go round, but please don't delete any more articles in this manner. I understand your concerns about their actual notability, but since multiple administrators have expressed concerns, it looks like this issue needs wider discussion. Questionable use of admin powers edit
Hello, I have noticed you are biasly deleting articles that do not fall into the speedy delete category. This is very harmful to Wikipedia and is clearly a violation of your abilities as an admin. I noticed this when you recently delete pornographic actress Brooke Ashley (later restored by Brookie). Not only does Brookie Ashley not fall into the speedy delete category, but is also a notable adult performer. I have evidence to supporting her notability as well. She is one of the few adult entertainer who contracted HIV and formerly holds a pornographic record. Her name brings over 110,000 hits on google, she has an article on German wikipedia, has AVN article [11], and has been referenced (mentioned) by Luke Ford [12], [13]. It seems apperant that you have not done research before deleting. Also if you feel an article such is this is not notable, please nominate it for AfD. Valoem talk 17:04, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- The article needs to make a claim to notability. The Google hit thing is irrelevant as "JDoorjam" has more hits, though that's more a personal opinion on the Google test. Having an AVN article is not a sign of notability as there are tens of thousands of such people. Neither is being mentioned by Luke Ford, and this mentioning isn't mentioned in the article anyway. And what record is it that she holds? Do you have a source that says that she's one of the few adult entertainers who contracted HIV? Are there sources for any of the claims in the article? - Getting HIV doesn't make her notable. Here's a list of porn stars who have died of AIDS. The article needs to make claims to notability. If you're sitting on all this good content, put it into the article, not my talk page. The article makes no claim for instance, that she's any sort of record holder. - Actually getting HIV is in the heterosexual scene is relatively rare and deemed notable. Many articles (not relating to Wikipedia articles) have been written on heterosexual adult performers who contracted HIV, included Darren James, Jessica Dee, and most notably Lara Roxx. most of the articles there do not fall into the speedy delete category, only a few of the vandal articles should have been deleted such as Black Angels (band). - Several administrators have reviewed my speedy deletions at this point, restoring those they believed to be inappropriately deleted. While I do not agree with all of the articles they have undeleted, I will accept their evaluation of those articles and will not delete them again. All of the articles which had gone through AfD have, to my knowledge, been restored, so that is a moot issue. However, I will not summarily undelete all of the articles I have deleted. - Because there isn't news that it has been greenlit, not that I've seen (including the source given in the article). The MTV article interviewed the writer, and Tobin Bell, who played Jigsaw. But that ain't greenlighting. Trust me: I absolutely expect this article will be in existence very soon, but there needs to be producer sign-off, preferably a script written, a filming schedule, or something along those lines. Until then, I haven't seen enough confirmed to warrant more than maybe a blurb in the main Saw article. If you have reliable (i.e., non-blog, non-speculative) sources that unwaveringly affirm the things I've just mentioned, then the Saw IV article ought to — and will — be unlocked and stubbed. RC patrol category edit
Since your userbox page is protected, I wonder if you wouldn't mind making a change to it for me. On Wikipedia:User_categories_for_discussion#Patrollers, we have changed category:User Wikipedia/RC patrollers (NCR) to category:Wikipedian recent changes patrollers. This doesn't affect the userbox itself, just the category it leads to. Can you make that switch on your page so we can delete the old category? (Also, if you're feeling generous, could you go into User:Tijuana Brass and change category:User Wikipedia/Welcoming Committee to category:Wikipedians in the Welcoming Committee for the same reason? - If we moved anybody into a category that they wouldn't like, please pass on that new categories are welcome, as long as they're phrased something like the format we're putting in place. Pre-existing edit
Hi! I noticed that you removed the word pre-existing from Dick Cheney. It is a perfectly good word meaning "existing before something else". It is often used in health insurance to describe a condition that existed before the start of coverage. In the context of the article, it meant that the foot condition existed prior to the cardiovascular condition, and I think it was correctly used in this case. -- Coneslayer 23:01, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

I mean, the guy is famous, he's on google, he was a model, he's an heir to a fortune, he's been linked to Linsay Lohan, Mischa Barton, and most recently, Brittney Spears, in which context I just saw him mentioned on E! Entertainment News. He's a notable individual, no matter what problems the article initially had. Do you disagree? - Cyber Girl of the Year is a separate article from Playboy Cyber Club for the same reason Person of the Year is separate from Time (magazine) or Major League Baseball Most Valuable Player Award is separate from Major League Baseball in principal.
- You claim that one is a proper informational subset of the other, which is not quite accurate. When I initiated my Article for Undeletion on Playboy Online and Playboy Cyber Club. They gave me enough rope to hang myself by also undeleting Cyber Girl of the Year and Playboy Cyber Girl. I sort of think this is the right thing to do as you can see in my talk page discussion. Basically, in general, annual award honors are given separate web pages. At this point there have only been 5 years of CGOY and so the separate page is sparse. However, by merging this as you propose, it is sort done so under the philosophy that if something is a stub it must be merged if not expanded expediently.
- I am only one voice, but I am in opposition. I think this page should be treated equitably in relation to annual honors pages. TonyTheTiger 00:43, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

A user posted the same message about Bosniakophobia on several dozen talk pages. It was determined to be loosely targeted spam, and was decided on the Administrator's Noticeboard that the best way to deal with it was simply to roll it all back. After someone has spammed a number of users, rollback is the only step that can be taken to discourage those actions, and so I and at least one other user set about reverting those edits at the request of some users affected. This was not about my stance on this issue one way or the other; on the contrary, I did it because I'm neutral on this issue. (Well, in full disclosure, I'm more than neutral: I'm completely ignorant.) This mass revert was simply about talk page and spam policy, nothing else. I apologize for any confusion caused. re: merging a cappella edit
My main concern is that most of the info in these articles comes exclusively from the members' personal experiences and the group's websites. Thus, simply moving that info to another article would generally not be a solution. Very few of them can adequately described as an offshoot of the gleeclub (although the Cornell one you mentioned is). I happened to notice that you are from Cornell. - They are two separate but very related issues. For example, many group's websites claim that they have preformed in front of X famous person. The referencing of that statement is very much tied to how notable it is (i.e. if only the group saw fit to write it on their website and no external sources reported on it that means that it was not a notable performance). Even for the notable alumni criteria an external source is important. The reason that criteria exists is because often less-notable groups can be useful to give context to notable artists; for this, sources are required. If the only source is about the gleeclub then perhaps its best to merge all those articles into the glee club article. None of these groups seem particularly notable outside of the their own institution. In general, though, I am not comfortable with musical groups writing their own history on their websites and then transferring that to Wikipedia. If there are no third party sources, I believe that to be a reason for deletion. Citing the subject of the article should be used to supplement non-controversial information into already notable articles, not to establish notability. - Of course we can agree to disagree! Just so you know, there is a touch of dispute over how to interpret a tour as being notable (there's tons of linked discussion at the policy page). My interpretaion of a "concert tour [...] reported in reliable sources" does not always include an a cappella group going somewhere and then writing about it on their website. I use the word "not always" because I think it can contribute to notability without being a sufficient condition. Since most of these a cappella articles don't contain any information that is not on their own websites, and since said websites are all linked from the list of a cappella groups page I don't feel many qualms about applying verifiability to them. Insofar as I now appreciate that my edit summary was undesirably obtuse, I should observe that I wasn't myself tagging the article as {{db-spam}} but rather properly formatting the {{db-meta}} tag applied by another user to assert that the article was speediable per G11. I didn't undertake, to be sure, to consider whether the tag was appropriate (I simply noticed the page's being improperly situated at Category:Speedy deletion templates), but having looked at the article I think it plain that {{db-spam}} did not entail (not only is the article surely not spam, but, insofar as it "survived" an AfD less than a month ago, it surely ought not to have been tagged under any speedy criterion), and that I ought probably to have taken the extra three seconds to make such ascertainment myself. Highland Society Deletion edit
Perhaps you missed this posted above:
Could you please explain why you speedy deleted the page on the Otago University Highland and Gaelic Society. From what I could make out it is because you consider the Society not notable? If this is indeed the case I disagree strongly. The Society is indeed notable.
Its campaigns have appeared regularly in national media in New Zealand and I would have though that would be enough notability in itself. Some of its aims have even seen fruition in influencing University management in course creation. They are also notable in being one of the few groups teaching the otherwise dying Gaelic language in New Zealand. If this does not meet the notability criteria I'm not really sure what you're looking for.
Further, the original members of the Society have recently left, and this history risks being lost forever. Wikipedia will be a richer and more useful resource with its inclusion. I hope you review your decision.

I saw your prod and decided merging would make more sense. Now I see you deleted the reference in the merged article. Neologisms are subject to WP:CSD as standalone articles as I'm sure you know. However, I am not aware of a guideline discouraging the use of common alternative slang names. As slang terms are not typically covered in more reputable publications, it would seem to make sense to "lower the bar" slightly for their inclusion, especially when the technical term, such as "value-priced fortified wine", is fairly obtuse. While "GHits" are obviously a shoddy gauge of notability, they are at least a broad populist measure of a term's popularity. I am performing a partial revert. If you disagree, you can revert me again and I won't restore it without a decent cite. However, this would probably be a poor use of both our time over such a minor point. —Dgiest c 01:49, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

- It didn't assert the notability (of the murder of the individual) only because it was deleted so quickly after it was created. This was the Bread and Roses strike. Anna's death was central to that struggle because it was used to put strike leaders in jail, yet it galvanized the strikers toward victory.
- Peter Carlson (now a writer with the Washington Post) has written that as a result of this strike, "A surge of energy moved through the debilitated American Labor movement."
- Eugene Debs said, "The Victory at Lawrence was the most decisive and far-reaching ever won by organized labor."
- Carlson suggests that this one strike caused employers to begin to deal with the American Federation of Labor, so that they wouldn't have to face future strikes led by the IWW.
- The phrase Bread and Roses has passed into common usage when referring to labor.
- Frank Steunenberg was governor of Idaho. Yet he is best known for his death, which was an assassination, the aftermath of which riveted the country for two years. Anna will likewise be known for her death, which may have shaped the entire history of organized labor in the U.S. until the present, with the AFL(-CIO) having become the dominant federation.
- In both cases, the deaths are very significant, the lives less so. Should the ex-governor have an article because he had been governor, and there be no article about Anna's very significant death because she wasn't previously notable?

- I'm not going to get into debating the merits of one article over another with you, but oppose neither your taking the article to WP:DRV, nor working on the article in the interim. I have moved the deleted content to User:Richard Meyers/Anna Lo Pezza, where you can expand it and provide references. I would urge you to find sources that specifically say she is important enough to warrant an article about her (as opposed to the strike itself) in order to clear the notability guidelines. It may be more appropriate to simply expand the section on her death at Lawrence textile strike, and redirect to the article from her name.
- I would also recommend that, in the future, you fully flesh out articles either in user space or off-line, and fully explain the importance of an article's subject per the relevant notability guidelines before posting at Wikipedia. This will help avoid similar situations from occurring. When going through articles nominated for speedy deletion, I and other admins can only go off of what is in the article, not what may at some point be in the article down the road. Obviously articles need not be finished works when they are first written (there's no such thing on Wikipedia), but they ought at least rise to the notability guidelines. I understand in the case of frivolous material, but i have now spent several unproductive hours trying to comprehend the inner machinations of deletion review, when i might have been turning that article into something worthwhile.

you deleted my article on mark katz claiming it was "self-promotion". i'm not mark katz, so it seems impossible i could "self-promote" someone else. what gave you that impression? is there something i can do to remedy this situation so you won't delete my article? i'm a new wikipedia user so i appreciate advice.

I'd have to say while putting the AfD on hold until after the whole article thing blew over might have been a good idea, I don't see on what grounds you can possible have given it a speedy keep. Under speedy rules:
- The nomination was unquestionably vandalism or disruption and nobody else recommends deleting it (since calling a nomination vandalistic does not make it so, and vandals can be correct). Examples of this include obviously frivolous nominations (Such as featured articles), nominations which are made solely to provide a forum for disruption (e.g., a userpage of a contestant in a heated edit war by their opponent(s) solely for harassment) and making nominations of the same article with the same arguments after they were strongly rejected.
is the only thing that comes close, but others did recommend deleting it. Frankly, I believe it was a rash error to close, especially since you interjected your own opinion about notability into the mix. I suggest you reopen the discussion. User:Potus7 is a new user, so I was seeking to help them out instead of them looking at their userpage and going "What the heck?!" This Day and Age (band) edit
I noticed that you deleted the article for This Day and Age with a db-band. It should be noted that the article did categorize them as an indie band, thereby asserting their importance. While This Day and Age might have broken up and may not have been a very mainstream band, I believe they had a strong enough following to exclude them from the "unnotable" category as well. Highland Society rapid deletion - ages ago... edit
Again - Could you please explain why you speedy deleted the page on the Otago University Highland and Gaelic Society. From what I could make out it is because you consider the Society not notable? If this is indeed the case I disagree strongly. The Society is indeed notable.
Its campaigns have appeared regularly in national media in New Zealand and I would have though that would be enough notability in itself. Some of its aims have even seen fruition in influencing University management in course creation. They are also notable in being one of the few groups teaching the otherwise dying Gaelic language in New Zealand. If this does not meet the notability criteria I'm not really sure what you're looking for.
Further, the original members of the Society have recently left, and this history risks being lost forever. Wikipedia will be a richer and more useful resource with its inclusion. I hope you review your decision.Tartanperil 16:27, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
- The Highland and Gaelic Society article was deleted because I agreed with the sentiment of the editor who nominated it for speedy deletion: the group does not meet Wikipedia's notability standards. Again, I do not believe personally that the article should be undeleted, but am willing to assist you in posting at DRV if you so desire (though you will most likely find the process rather straightforward). Speedy deletion of Tuna casserole edit

Replaceable fair use Image:Application_page1.png edit
Thanks for uploading Image:Application_page1.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Fable2logo.jpg} edit
Thank you for uploading Image:Fable2logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Deletion of UniModal edit
Hi,
I noticed you deleted UniModal recently (April 12th). You cited some opinion you have of the article. Was there actually an AFD? Did you delete it based on some CSD criteria? I am very upset about this delete since you did not seem to notify *ANYONE* about it. I and many others have spent a whole hell of a lot of time on that page, and we have built it up with a good many cited sources and have made it quite objective.
If there is an AFD or something of the sort, I'd like to see it. If not, please replace the page so we can discuss deletion appropriately.

- I think you should have notified some of the editors. I find it hard to argue with your assertion that it was "blatant advertisement" because I haven't been to the page in a long while. However, I and a good number of other users have put a lot of work into that article, and I think those editors would not appreciate such a hasty deletion. I think you should have weighed the amount of work that has been put into the article, along with the article's age alongside your opinion of its content. May I request that you either undelete it so it can be properly reviewed, or copy it to a temporary address?

- None of that has to do with his question about whether UniModal has a physical address, which does seem to be a relevant question in determining whether the organization meets notability thresholds. If you have an issue with the question he posed, you should say so (though from your eventual response to his question, it appears you think the issue is a valid one). I am surprised that you chose to respond to his question with your statements about his other postings, rather than responding to his (IMO less constructive) arguments for deletion of the article -- though there as well, the appropriate tack is to address the arguments, and not the arguer. I haven't checked into the validity of your statements about his other postings because it simply doesn't matter: in the context of this project, you should try to check at the door the arguments and conflicts of personality and transit philosophy and whatever else that crop up in other places. Hi there,
I started the Linda Darling-Hammond article ages ago, and have been watching the controversy from afar and I'm not sure what to do - you seem informed so . . . can I ask what the problem is? Why are administrators involved? Does it matter what Dr. Hammond requests? Has she really requested anything? I don't want to become a reverter, but really the main reason she's interesting (gets press, gives lectures etc.) is the TFA study so it seems important to have it on there, otherwise she's verging on non-notable.
