Musical Background and outlook

edit

I had no interest in music until the 5th when my friend introduced me to the Gorillaz. In the 6th grade a classmate wanted to start a band and obviously the only instrument that wasn't covered was the bass. I didn't enjoy my time with the band because all I wanted to do was to play songs by the Gorillaz while my friends wanted to play Green Day songs. In 7th grade my mother told me that I had to either go to English camp or Band camp. Both options didn't appeal to me but I chose the lesser evil which was Band Camp. I accidentally signed up for jazz band but ended up enjoying playing music than I ever have. I gradually switched to the upright bass and started practicing seriously. I won an award to attend the Berklee five week program for free which led me to attending Berklee as a full time student. In my time here I encountered genres of music that I never knew about or never tried to appreciate which changed my perspective on music.

My Music

edit

I don't really feel that what I do would fit into a specific category of music as I do what I feel like doing which could be making a series of ambient sounds for no apparent reason. But what I've been practicing the most is what Cio D'Or would call sound architecture where the development of the music is more important than the content of the music. I also enjoy making music where the sounds involved don't sound like traditional instruments. I find beauty in efficiency so I like to make sounds that I believe most efficiently raises the quality of the song.
