WikiProject Editor Retention edit

@L235, Worm That Turned, Sainsf, and Mandruss: In lieu of naming Buster7 Editor of the Week, I suggest that another suitable barnstar be given with a personal note. Buster7 had previously provided one suggestion (though the name coincides with an existing barnstar); if anyone has other suggestions or would like to create something else, please chime in. I can handle writing a first draft of a personal note. isaacl (talk) 05:20, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

A barnstar would be fine with me. His role and contribution have been unique in the community, not directly related to editing; this excludes virtually all existing stars. Lacking a "Cheerleader Barnstar", I'd suggest {{The Special Barnstar}}. ―Mandruss  05:35, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
I am happy with Mandruss' suggestion. Sainsf (talk · contribs) 09:51, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Is someone talented enough to make something like this with a B and 7?
I'd love to see a special Barnstar made up for Buster, a la the Treble Clef Barnstar. I don't believe I'm talented enough to make one myself, unfortunately. Does anyone know someone who might able to do something like that? WormTT(talk) 18:40, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
If one of you can make a cheerleader barnstar, or a custom barnstar along the lines suggested by Worm That Turned, please put your draft on this page! isaacl (talk) 03:09, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

OK, this is what it would look like basically. To change the colors and all, let me know. You can enter all that you want to say in the blank parameters. Sainsf (talk · contribs) 07:32, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

Erm, not to be a pain, but the theme of a treble clef is music. What has been Buster's musical contribution to Wikipedia? It's a creative and pretty design, but that's not enough for a barnstar. And black-and-white is plain and ugly; I'm "letting you know". ―Mandruss  08:06, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
Never mind, we can wait for a better image. The treble clef was WTT's suggestion. Sainsf (talk · contribs) 08:32, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
Ok. The cheerleader theme is the best I can come up with, but (1) I lack the graphic design skills and tools to create such a proposal, and (2) I wouldn't begin to know how to convey that theme in a barnstar design. Pom-poms? This is why I suggested the Special, which is not inapt and is quite visually attractive. Or, if we want a one-off Buster7-themed design, and someone has the skills and tools to create one, simply make a pretty star studded with many B7s (maybe one sparkling B7 at each of the star's five points) and title it The Buster7 Barnstar. I assume you could even use animated GIF to make the B7s turn on and off like the lights on a Christmas tree. ―Mandruss  08:38, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
Awesome idea. But I don't have any idea how to work the graphics. Sainsf (talk · contribs) 10:01, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
There's no end to the things one could do with animated GIF, given the imagination and the time commitment. With five GIF frames, you could have only one of the B7s on at a time, in a rotating pattern. And the speed of the rotation could be controlled very precisely by the designer, I believe the duration of each frame is specified in milliseconds. ―Mandruss  12:14, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
To clarify, I was asking for anyone to provide the actual customized barnstar graphic that they've proposed. Worm That Turned was simply showing the treble clef star as inspiration for a custom design. There's lots of possibilities that can be done by combining graphics from Wikipedia Commons, as well. isaacl (talk) 12:31, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
Fair enough. In that case, I'll drop out at this point, since as I said I lack the skills and tools. ―Mandruss  12:33, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
Feedback and input is always welcome; in the end, we may just use an existing graphic. I hope to write some text this weekend. isaacl (talk) 13:57, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
My apologies; I did not get the chance to write anything last weekend. I won't promise anything but I'll see if any progress can be made this weekend. isaacl (talk) 03:14, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
