Pandit Prasun Banerjee (bengali: প্রসুন ব্যানার্জী) (c. Aug 15, 1926 – 22 March 1997) was one of the foremost disciples of Ustaad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, and was hailed as the torchbearer[1] of the Patiala-Kasur Gayaki immortalized by Ustaadji. It was the Ustaad’s personal wish to teach Prasun, and the result was the so-called “Prasun-flavour“[2]. To listeners, it was more of a new ‘ang’, bearing a touch of silken and fine, and those who heard it once could not forget it for the rest of their lives. He married Meera Banerjee (nee Meera Chatterjee), who is hailed as the "Empress of Patiala Gayaki"[3].

Smt Indrani Mazumdar, daughter of the renowned Hindutani classical vocalist couple Late Pandit Prasun Banerjee and Late Vidushi Meera Banerjee, is an experienced and well-known vocalist herself. She is also an acclaimed 'guru' of Hindustani classical and light classical music. Her many successful students prove her capability as a consummate trainer.

She was brought up in a family of stalwarts and enthusiasts of classical and neo-classical music. Apart from her famous parents, she received 'taalim' from her musicologist maternal grandfather Sri Shailendra Kumar Chatterjee and later from Ustad Munawar Ali Khan. ...... Her specialty is in maintaining the purity of 'raaga' and the asthetic sense of 'bistaar'.
