State care sites and monuments are sites and structures in the care and ownership of the Department for Communities and comprise another heritage register alongside Scheduled Ancient Monuments and Listed buildings. The program began in 1869 and, as of 2023, there are 186 sites, structures, and complexes included.^[1] Some of the sites and structures included are also scheduled monuments.
