Hottinger & Company was established in 1981 and chaired by Baron Henri Hottinguer until 2009. His sons, Frédéric and Rodolphe Hottinguer both sat on the board until 2012 where the company became independent from Hottinger & Cie, the family's Swiss bank.
With the increasing importance of London in the super high net worth international family wealth market place, Frédéric elected to expand the Group activities to include multi-family office services. Discussions began in 2015 with Archimedes Private Office, who's experience in family office services complimented the existing operations of Hottinger. The merger was approved by the Financial Conduct Authority and completed in July 2016 with the new business trading under the name Hottinger Group and with Frédéric acting as the Group Ambassador.
Frédéric's mission to create superior dynastic values within the Hottinger Group aims to revive his grandfather’s vision, “We are not a private bank but a house of private bankers. The distinction is important. (...) We take care of our clients as family doctors used to do. We have known some families for generations.”
