Olympique de Marengo (1924–1962) USMM Hadjout (1947–present) |
Stade 5 Juillet 1962 (Arabic: الملعب البلدي 5 جويلية 1962) is a multi-purpose stadium in Hadjout, Tipaza, Algeria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of USMM Hadjout. The stadium has a capacity of 8,000 people.
History edit
The stadium was built in 1924 as the home ground for Olympique de Marengo with one covered amphitheater. He was the only one they played for until the founding of a club for Muslims called Union Sportive Musulmane Marengo in 1947 and remained in this state until the independence of Algeria in 1962, when Olympique de Marengo disappeared like all colonial clubs, At the beginning of the millennium, artificial grass was placed after its dirt floor since its opening, and in 2008 it was decided to expand the stadium’s stands to have a capacity of 8000 spectators by building four new stands, one opposite the old one, which is the largest, two behind the goal and one next to the old one, Then floodlights were added so that the club could train at night but matches could not be played at night. In 2020 the field floor was changed to a fifth-generation floor after the old one became a danger to the players and because of it the club was forced to play outside its stadium.
