He became Davis Cup Captain in 1951, when Japan competed the Cup the first time after the World War II. The New York Times reported, "Kumagae returns to New York".

Seiichiro Kashio

I received a mail from Japan Tennis Association: His date of death was September 6, 1962. His Grand Slam singles results: He took part in US Championships twice, 1918 and 1919. (1918, 3R // 1919, 2R) He graduated the same school as Zenzo Shimizu, Hitotsubashi University (current name), but not so strong as Shimizu.

Zenzo Shimizu

Shimizu lost Bill Tilden 4-6 4-6 11-13 at the "All-Comers Final" in Wimbledon 1920. Tennis in 1920s

He became Davis Cup Captain in 1954, went to Mexico. After the loss [1] [2], he dropped in America, grave of his friend Tilden (died 1953, one year before).

His Grand Slam singles results: French Open, 1930/1932/1933: Best records, 3rd round // Wimbledon, 1929-1934: Best records, 3rd round (He advanced the 3rd round of Wimbledon for 4 consecutive years, from 1930 to 1933.) // US Championships, 1927 only once, 1st round loss. At Wimbledon 1934 with Dorothy Round, Miki had to overcome Jiro's suicide, three months before.

Jiro Yamagishi

His lifetime was [May 23, 1912 - January 30, 1997]. He was born in Moji City (Now part of Kita-Kyushu City), Fukuoka. His Grand Slam singles results: French Open, 1935 only once, 2nd round // Wimbledon, 1934/1935/1937: Best record, 4rd round 1934 // US Championships, 1932/1937: Best record, 4rd round 1937.

Kosei Kamo, Atsushi Miyagi

Kosei's older sister, Sachiko Kamo, was the first Japanese woman to attend Grand Slam Ladies' Singles in 1940's.
