Ian Spence (Footballer) born 1958

Ian Spence is a former professional football player.

Spence's footballing career began with Watford, in England's first division, in 1974. Spence made 3 appearances as a 16 year old before a knee injury forced him to retire at the age of 18. This was following a major operation on the knee which never fully recovered. Spence returned to the game with Seville in Spain and although he was with the club for 18 months, he made only 6 reserve appearances. Spence then returned to England, where he played as a semi-professional, first with Dunstable Town, then with Barnet FC. Knee complaints continued to blight Spence's career, causing him to retire permanently at the age of 25.
