Wikipedia's immune systems
Here is a small guide on where to go when there's a problem on Wikipedia.
WikiProjects
editWikiProjects and taskforces are groups of editors collaborating around certain topics and specialized subtopics. Editors interested in Canada will join WikiProject Canada, those interested in engineering will join WikiProject Engineering, and those interested in the Solar System will join Solar System Taskforce (which is itself part of WikiProject Astronomy). If you run into a problem concerning an article dealing with flowers... well WikiProject Plants should be your go to! Collaboration happens on the project's talk page. Most projects will have a shortcut, often advertised on the top right of the project's page, which is often simply the name of the WikiProject, unspaced, in all caps, with the prefix 'WP:', for example WP:CANADA, WP:ENGINEERING, WP:SOLARSYSTEM.
While editor activity varies with the Wikiproject, some being defunct, most WikiProjects will have an Article Alerts subscription and a Cleanup listing (see previous Signpost coverage). They are usually accessible via the projects' mainpage, and will often have a shortcut matching the WikiProject's main shortcut. For example, WikiProject Physics's main shortcut is WP:PHYSICS – it's Article Alert page can be reached via the similar shortcut WP:PHYSICS/AALERTS and it's cleanup listing can be reached at WP:PHYSICS#Cleanup listing. If these shortcuts don't exist, create them for everyone's benefits! But to get the most out of the WikiProject's alert page, you should put it on your watchlist.
