Eric Nelson Haumba is a Ugandan librarian and LIS educator. He was born on the 11th November, 1985 in Bosolwe hopsital, in rural Butaleja District Eastern Uganda. He went to Dube Rock Primary School Kachonga, Mazimasa Sub-county in Butaleja county which was a county in Tororo District at the time from primary one to primary three before shifting to Hahoola Primary School still in Butaleja from primary four to Primary five. In 1998, Eric Haumba transferred to Rock View Primary School in Tororo town which was one of the top performing primary schools at the time. The reason for his transfer was to get a better and stronger educational background at that time.

He attended Rock View Primary school from primary six to primary seven where he completed his Primary Leaving Examinations (P.L.E) in 1999, excelling in division one. He then joined Manjasi High School in 2000 where he would spend six years (2000-2005), covering his O-level and A-level education. In 2006, he joined Uganda Christian University, Mukono campus where he pursued his Bachelor of Library and Information Science, there by graduating in 2009. He then joined Makerere University in 2012 where he pursued his Master’s degree in library and information science, which he completed in 2015.

Eric Nelson Haumba is the chief librarian of YMCA Comprehensive Institute- YCI Kampala and assistant lecturer at the College of Computing and Information Sciences, Makerere University. He is a well-rounded, experienced, and competent copyeditor and author who has been writing and editing manuscripts for over eight years. He is a multidisciplinary researcher with interests in: ICT4D, knowledge management, information ethics, library automation and digitization, health informatics, Open Access, intellectual property, agro-ecology and community advocacy. He is also a social media promoter with experience in the field and has worked on various social media campaigns with a number of societies in Africa and beyond.  He is the public lead for Creative Commons Uganda chapter and an editor with Wikipedia projects.
