First European Geologist from India.
editAnwar Hussain Khan (b May 15, 1957) is the first Indian to have achieved the title of European Geologist (EurGeol) Register of European Geologist title holders in 1995 (reported in Limca Book of Records 2011- Article 136).
The title is awarded by the European Federation of Geologists (EFG) which was established in 1980 by representatives from Belgium, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom. Throughout Europe the geologists are represented by the (EFG) and by mutual recognition of the academic and professional qualification the title EurGeol is awarded to allow free movement of geologists in Europe.
Education
editAnwar Khan also holds the highest qualification of Chartered Geologist awarded by the British Geological Society which he had acquired in 1992. He also holds a professional license, PGeol, to practice as a geologist in the United State of America. He provides voluntary consultancy services related to environmental safety issues, in particular for asbestos related health problems and Geology in general "Geology Expert1" Geology Expert 2.
Anwar had completed his Masters in 1981 from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai.
For the professional training of fresh graduate geologists from King Abdulaziz University, Anwar heads the team of specialist trainers and had spearheaded the design of the course curriculum for this yearly training since 1998.
Career
editCurrently working for Al Hoty Stanger Ltd, a Saudi British JV organization, Anwar is credited with more than 1000 completed projects, as listed in the CPD(Continuous Professional Development) , His practice in India included participation as the field geologist in the construction of India’s prestigious Kakrapar Atomic Power Station Project in 1980’s.
