This template does nothing. There is a common misconception that every article needs at least one infobox, provided that an applicable infobox exists. However, there is no general consensus that infoboxes are required, useful, or even tolerated. For mostly aesthetic reasons some editors do not tolerate infoboxes in articles for which they are responsible. For some areas, such as opera composers or mathematics articles, there is a strong consensus among project members that infoboxes are generally not desired. See for example WP:Composers#Biographical infoboxes. However, such views are not binding.
To prevent recurring conflicts each time another editor discovers that an article has no infobox, the present template can be used to mark it as an article which intentionally does not have an infobox.
This template can be given any parameters. The only parameters that are not ignored (at present) are latitude and longitude, which can be used to display coordinates at the top of the page.
