I am (1993-present) a full time college student, a part time Nursing Assistant Certified, and a veteran of the United States Navy who was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. I enjoy helping people; one reason why i work as a Nursing Assistant Certified and am going to school to become a Registered Nurse. Aside from my enjoyment in helping people, i like to be outdoors to hike and camp, love spending time with family, and enjoy watching sports.

Outside of my English class, i am an avid user of looking up things on Wikipedia, although i was never signed up for it. I have not used editing skills to edit articles written by other people, but i hope to put the skills i learn into good use. I enjoy reading about historical era's and wars, psychology, anatomy, and paranormal subjects and i am happy to be able to come here and read information on the subjects. I hope to complete a page on a subject that i thoroughly enjoy.

Article Critique: NSA Bahrain edit

Article review edit

Being stationed in Bahrain for over two years, i saw two sides to Naval Support Activity Bahrain. However, i was curious in learning more about it and the history. I visited the Naval Support Activity Bahrain page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: Its lack of history of the base, the lack of citations, and and the lack of up to date information.

History edit

The page sites some history on how the base has come about, but it has no present history, besides of an investigation that happened over 10 years ago. Along with having no up to date history of the base, they have no information on buildings nor any list of recreational activities. The page also fails to list the other parts of the base connected to Naval Station Activity Bahrain. That said, i know that much of the base is made up of master-at-arms and third country nationals but also has many other military rates and civilians who also work on the base, and i do not see that mentioned in the article.

Citations edit

The page list some citations, but barely any. Under references, there were five citations listed, three of which were linked to a dead page. It would lead you to the Navy Times website, but insist that there was an error. Upon discovering the dead citations, the other two citations were not related to information of the base, besides the investigation that had happened in the kennel portion of the base. When stating the history of the base, the page did not use any citations, which makes me think where the information came from.

Age edit

The article itself has been updated within this year, however the citations are seven to eights years old. Upon reading the page, it was noticed that there was no updated history about the present base. If more updated information was updated in the article it could make it more credible.

Summary edit

All in all, I would rate this page as "okay." The history and information that was presented in this page was fairly decent, but what was cited was not that relevant. In the history portion of the page, all the facts stated were not cited (all but one, which was not relevant to the base). There are many pieces of information left out of this page, which would benefit learning more about Naval Station Activity Bahrain.
