Category Editing

Please do not edit the Xbox 360-only category in order to keep games that are also on PC off of it. The original definition is appropriate because exclusivity is compared between consoles. It is not compared across platforms. This is used as a useful category for quickly browsing the exclusive games of the various consoles. Take a look at all of TJ's contributions, Special:Contributions/65.37.60.195, Special:Contributions/Lrrr IV, Special:Contributions/Edgecution. He is never active at that time, I really doubt he's going to (get up early?) just to vandalise a user page. That means nothing. Inconsistancy with sockpuppets he used months ago, two of which are indefblocked doesn't prove anything. Even his IP could have changed. My IP stays in two consistant ranges, but one starts with 216 and the other starts with 202, so IP hopping isn't rare either. Early? I just don't think it's him, I have no idea why he would target User:Jéské Couriano's page, and I really don't think he'd change editing times just to vandlise a page. The vandalistic edit came on the 13th, before you were even involved in this specific case? Given that Lrrr and Spyke have logged in after that edit, I would have guessed that the checkuser finding would be more than just "likely" which just means that it's the same ISP and area. - hahnchen 02:05, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Honestly I'm optimistic, but how many editors are from Rochester, make wrestling references, and know me well enough to vandalize my Wikipedia userpage with a reference to discussion in which they were involved in previously? The vandalism (inserting the text "accomplice in the Benoit murder") is from an incident about Chris Benoit if you didn't know, and me and TJ bickered at Talk:Chris Benoit over changes. Honestly, what does it take to prove that someone can find a computer within 3 hours of their normal editing time? I don't actually know anything about this guy's editing patterns or behaviour, from the RFCU it just seemed a bit suspicious. I was just wondering if others at PW knew anything about this. I don't think that anyone else could have known. TJ was very controversial to say the least. Either you loved him, or you hated him, and which one would often change. One minute he was a great ally, and the next he was a vicious opponent in a dispute. The only person to consistently like him was Bulletproof. Firstly, it wasn't an apostrophe, it was a single close quotation mark. Secondly, you cannot possibly tell which apostrophe the box art uses, as we don't have access to the font. University outing

Why is a university outing totally trivial? Just wondering. I'm guessing it would need coverage from external sources to be a notable event in the history, but then there is the other argument which says that once notability has been established, you don't need to keep re-establishing it for each event in the history. The real problem here is that the history is incomplete. If there was more history, then it wouldn't look so strange. My concenr now is that the article ends with the "police raid" bit. My concern is that the entire article is totally trivial, and only exists because people feel hell bound to bend over to Jimmy Wale's wishes. I've seen it a lot of times before, such as with the guys voting to delete Arch Coal. A university trip is absolutely trivial, would you list the hen parties which took place at Pacha? Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time

The merge was discussed, nobody opposed, so I merged the pages. Since lists are considered cruft, I figured there was no reason to include them. If you have any problems, you should leave a message on the talk page. The last time I checked, there was no policy that said EVERYTHING had to be merged, and if you don't want to merge everything, you MUST go to an afd. The guitarists one already failed an AFD, and I merged every sourced comment from the 3 lists and made sure there was an external link to the official articles for all three. You've not merged every sourced comment from the 3 lists, you've ignored the primary sources. Take a look at Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, it talks about how Ernst & Young came up with the scoring system. Nothing has been merged, no new information was taken from these and added into the Rolling Stone article. These lists are frequently mentioned in the press, just hit them up on Google News, and articles such as this. - hahnchen 22:54, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

I didn't think the information was necessary, because the three lists are just three of the dozens of similar lists that Rolling Stone has done over the years, and they really don't warrant any significant mention. There is consensus to merge, as three users agree with me, so I'm not exactly sure why I should have to go to afd. If I didn't merge anything that you feel is insignificant, then you should add it yourself, rather than undoing it. I've took a look at the Merge discussion before I reverted for the first time, that is not consensus. There is just one other user who agrees with the merge, The JPS. I don't think these are just run of the mill lists that you see every few months, but a special edition one off. The 500 Greatest albums of all time can be found as a hardcover book release, and there are news articles discussing the very lists. - hahnchen 00:29, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

If it were to merge, I'd want more in depth critique using some of the links mentioned above, and to have the lists split off into their own section on the page, possibly under the heading "50th Anniversary of Rock". Again, why exactly are these lists notable? Rolling Stone has done hundreds of articles that have gotten a lot of response from independant sources, but we can't have a seperate page for all of them. I wouldn't object to a "50th Anniversary of Rock" section, or even a "Famous articles" section. The permission was given via email. I've emailed OTRS, and have been in contact with Judson Dunn about tagging a confirmation. The reason this has not been done, is because the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license was not mentioned specifically. Regarding that comment

I forgot about that reason, and am ready to withdraw my nomination after finding out something this substantial has surfaced. I forgot about a lack of paper sources, and wouldn't feel comfortable with this being promoted until there are more paper sources for a game this old. I personally don't have any sources that old, but I am looking into it on the magazine project. As a compromise between cyber and paper resources, some magazines publish old reviews in archives, and it is these sources for which I am searching for. However, I don't know what magazines (other than EGM and Edge, which I checked) existed back then. Do you know of any old magazines that I may be able to look into for old archived reviews?--CM (talk) 23:35, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

If you message User:X201, he'll give you a copy of the Edge review. It will probably be quite short though as with all Edge reviews in that period. I'm pretty sure that this is the C&VG review that appeared in print. I believe the date stamp to be inaccurate to when it was written, but is just a generic batch upload date stamp. I can't be certain of either of these two points though. User:Mitaphane has a copy of the Next Generation Magazine review, but he has not edited for months now. Also on WP:CVG/M, you'll find that User:Ashnard has access to a retrospective article from Official Nintendo Magazine, this might be helpful. - hahnchen 13:26, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

I think the article is ready now. If this FAC fails, it will probably be a while before I return to this project. I don't think Mitaphane is returning any time soon, and I've already integrated Edge, CVG, and Nintendo Magazine, which help to balance out the article. Someone also stepped forward and added the manual, so I really have nothing left to do. I know you are busy, but if you could read through 1080° Snowboarding for any long-term, glaring, or undetected problems before its FAC, I would greatly appreciate it. I've already read it. It does not satisfy my concerns. The whole reception section is based on web sources with little readership or influence at the time of release. Adding a few quotes from established sources does help, but the whole section is generally based on IGN, GameSpot and RPGFan.
