Edge (video game) Top 50 iphone games? edit

Do you know which issue mentioned Edge as one of the top 50 iPhone games? Based on the resource list, i think it could either have been on 197 Issue of Edge magazine or the 210 issue.Blue Pumpkin Pie (talk) 07:00, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

I have both those issues, but don't have access to them immediately. User:X201 may be able to help. - hahnchen 12:15, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
Have checked those two issues and nothing leapt out at me. Looked through anything related to mobile in those issues and still a blank. - X201 (talk) 14:33, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
That's so weird because one of the sources in Edge (video game) shows it was rated top 50 iPhone games in Edge magazine. I'll continue to research on it. I'm also working on Every Extend Extra. WP:VG/RS October 2006 of Edge magazine has an interview with Tetsuya Mizuguchi and . Do you have the ISSN number, andthe text of the interview and review?Blue Pumpkin Pie (talk) 05:34, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Edge magazine request edit

Hey Hahnchen, according to the WPVG ref library you've got a copy of the September 2003 issue of Edge. I'm trying to track down some Halo info from that issue; I don't know the story name but at least one possible citation I need is on page 109, so I assume it's whatever story is on that page. Could you assist? Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 15:21, 9 September 2018 (UTC)

I will take a look this weekend. - hahnchen 15:35, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
It's not September 2003. Page 109 is a Sega Rally feature. No Halo coverage from a quick scan, unless the it's a passing reference in the middle of an article. The issue mentions Halo on the cover, but only in reference to Killzone. - hahnchen 11:25, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the look. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 22:31, 23 September 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Kartridge edit

Hello Hahnchen,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Kartridge for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

TheLongTone (talk) 14:06, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

If this was the article you flagged for speedy, then that's some hot bullshit and you should not be reviewing articles. - hahnchen 23:54, 5 February 2019 (UTC)

Magazine source request edit

Hi there.

I'm researching for an article rewrite of Space Channel 5. I've recently come across an issue of GamesTM, some kind of "retro" feature about 25 Sega titles, featuring behind-the-scenes interviews with staff. I found a version on Wayback, but it's incomplete. Do you have the issue? --ProtoDrake (talk) 13:11, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

The magazines are in storage, and I will have access to them on October 4th. I'll have a rifle through then, but would ideally like an issue number. - hahnchen 14:15, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
Done some more digging. I can't find which issue of GamesTM it appeared in. But the feature I'm seeking can be found in their "Retro" compilation Volume 6. (Archived link) I can fudge through on the pages I found in this archived version from some kind of compilation, which covers the original game, but I'm thinking of doing its sequel too and the article seems to cover both. --ProtoDrake (talk) 16:21, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
OK, that helps, I will look for it when I have my magazines. - hahnchen 10:34, 18 September 2019 (UTC)
@ProtoDrake: Got it. The archive.org link only misses the final page. Email me, and I'll respond with a scan. If you want to cite the original GamesTM magazine, it's issue 133, pages 128-133, published in March 2013. - hahnchen 11:12, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

Road Rash article request edit

Hey there. I'm working on getting the page for Road Rash up to GA, and I'm told that there's a substantial article on such in the August 2010 issue (#99) of GamesTM, which you appear to be in possession of. If you're able to confirm that you have it and can get that article sent over to me somehow, that'd be amazing. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 04:06, 1 November 2019 (UTC)

A humble request... edit

Hi hahnchen, if you don't mind I have an inquiry for your attention. The WP: VG's reference library section points to you as having access to the Issue 135 of GamesTM (May 2013) whose contents include a retrospective piece on Ron Gilbert's thoughts about the early days of his work at LucasArts. I wonder if it's possible to ask you to provide access to a scan of the relevant passages should you be willing to take time to help with this issue. Thanks! Electroguv (talk) 14:53, 16 February 2020 (UTC)

OK, I already have your email address and will send you a scan. It will take up to two weeks as the magazines are in storage. However, I didn't list the Ron Gilbert piece at the reference library index, so it may only be a small article. What article are you actually working on? - hahnchen 11:47, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
Wow, thanks for the fast response, will be looking forward to your e-mail reply. While your mention of the possible negligibility of the article suggests that it may lend itself to a cover-all-bases purpose as far as the sourcing issue goes, my initial idea was it that actually could offer some bits of insight into LucasArts' internal development pratices from the time that the original Monkey Island games were developed. At any rate, your help would be greatly appreciated. Electroguv (talk) 21:30, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

Retro Gamer edit

Hi! I was looking for sources at Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Reference library/Retro Gamer and it suggested that you might have a much-needed issue of Retro Gamer. I'm looking for a complete copy of Issue 15. There is a copy with missing pages on the internet archive, which leaves out some important articles on pages 58-65. I'm hoping that you have it and don't mind waiting if you need time to find it. Happy editing, Shooterwalker (talk) 22:32, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

I saw that request on WP:VG, but no, I only have the digital back issues which have missing pages. You can try contacting the author directly, but I don't know how active he is. https://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/JohnSzczepaniak/937274/ - hahnchen 15:46, 3 December 2020 (UTC)

About Time edit

Are you seriously saying "you can see it in the film" is a valid source? Viewers of the film can see what appears to be the exterior of a house. Telling readers that they can see a house in the film that looks like this one, therefore that's verified, doesn't go nearly far enough. If it is listed in the credits, then perhaps you can find a source that says this? Thanks. Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:19, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

How is any of the plot verified? Yes, there are sources that verify it, but it's so patently obvious to anyone watching the film it should be unnecessary.[1][2] - hahnchen 16:51, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

Edge magazine edit

Hello, I saw that you were listed on the VG reference library. I just created Helsing's Fire and Metacritic says Edge reviewed the game in their Sept 2010 issue on page 98. Do you happen to have this specific issue? I'm looking for the review itself, and perhaps info on editor-in-chief and publisher if possible. Zupotachyon (talk) 03:19, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

I've not had access to my library this entire pandemic. Depending on vaccination status, I may be able to get it by month end, some time in June the latest. - hahnchen 15:50, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
OK, no problem, whenever it's safe for you. I don't *really* need the review, I'm just curious if I missed anything that the other reviews didn't catch. Zupotachyon (talk) 21:37, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
@Zetana: I have a copy, if you need it email me and I'll respond with it attached. -hahnchen 22:15, 25 June 2021 (UTC)

The reference library says that you have the January 2009 issue for GamesTM. It has a feature for LittleBigPlanet. Would you like to send me an email with the feature attached? Lazman321 (talk) 21:27, 27 June 2021 (UTC)

Yes, but I'm not likely to get a hold of it until late July. - hahnchen 16:25, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
@Lazman321: Sorry this is late, but I have the scans now if you still need them. Please email me. - hahnchen 16:51, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

GamesTM Issue 72 (July 2008) edit

Good evening (think other time of the day if applicable) Hahnchen! My message has to do with the information at the WP:VG reference library which indicates that you posess the Issue # 72 of the games TM magazine. As it happens, this issue contains an interview with Fumito Ueda of Team Ico that could prove to yield citable tidbits for a certain project, and I wonder if it would be within your convenience to share scans of the repsective material. As always, your assistance is greatly appreciated. Electroguv (talk) 20:40, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
