Gordon Christopher Gregory is a British Conservative Party politician, Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, and general surgeon in the NHS.

Early life

Dr Gregory was born in 1981 in Stretford Manchester and educated at The Manchester Grammar School, St Bede's College, Manchester, and Sheffield University.

Personal life

Gregory has had a stammer for all his life as uses techniques from the McGuire Programme in his speech. He is a practising Roman Catholic.

Family

Dr Gregory is the eldest son of John Raymond Gregory, a barrister and Conservative Party politician, and Fiona Gregory. John Gregory stood for parliament in Stretford and Urmston constituency in the 1997 United Kingdom general election. Gregory has three children born in 2001, 2002, and 2015.

Medical career

Dr Gregory qualified as a doctor in 2006, was a junior doctor at Northern General Hospital, Barnsley Hospital, and Royal Hallamshire Hospital, before progressing to surgical registrar and rotating around the East Midlands Deanery.

Political career

Dr Gregory has been a member of the Conservative Party (UK) since joining as a teenager. He stood for Sheffield City Council whilst at university in Beauchief and Greenhill. Whilst working in Lincolnshire he was elected to Boston Borough Council and served as chairman of the Audit and Governance Committee.

In 2016 he was admitted onto the parliamentary candidates' list for the Conservative Party (UK). He stood in the 2017 United Kingdom general election in Sheffield Heeley (UK Parliament constituency) and increased the Conservative vote by 87%, the best result for the party since 1983. He is standing in the 2019 United Kingdom general election

Dr Gregory has campaigned to leave the EU. During the 2016 referendum he coordinated the Vote Leave campaign in Sheffield.
