Susan Sullivan Saiter

Susan Sullivan Saiter is an American author of two novels originally published by Donald I. Fine, Inc. of New York. She is also a former reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times and a stringer for the Chicago bureau of the New York Times.

Themes

Her two published novels deal with the emotional and psychological effects that a dysfunctional home has on a young girl during the "coming-of-age" process. Both novels tell the story of a pre-pubescent girl as they navigate through their respective adolescent and adult lives while burdened with the inherent mental and emotional issues created by their disadvantaged family life. Subsequently, the stories directly address many potentially disturbing and socially tabboo issues such as child abuse, teen pregnancy, drug & alcohol abuse, incest, rape, teenage sex, and homelessness.
