My interests are multi-faceted and, in many cases, revolve around the contents of the papers of my father, a Pacific Theater War Correspondent for United Press during WWII. He also covered Operation Crossroads after the war. After that he continued working as a journalist with short stints in public relations, until he eventually became employed with Copley Press, eventually rising to the position of Editor, The San Diego Union.

In addition, I am a Vietnam War veteran with documentation regarding my unit history (which differs from that which is posted on Wikipedia) as well as official U.S. Archival documentation of a friendly fire accident which occurred in my unit. I also possess official U.S. Army photos of the final U.S. COMBAT Artillery Round being fired as well as the final COMBAT infantry troops being airlifted from their field positions on 10 August 1972.

As a bit of an aside, I am a former Bible student (BIOLA University) who has converted to (Eastern) Orthodox Christianity. I enjoy reading articles which include references to official Orthodox theology, and when needed, I like to add references and, sometimes, edits which clarify certain points for the reader. I do not have any desire to enter into doctrinal wars, and so my corrections will always be limited only to that which is purported to be the position of Orthodox Christianity, avoiding any type of confrontational changes that might instigate conflict with adherents of other faith systems.

It is my hope that I will eventually be able to learn how to officially list my documentation as source material, cross reference it with any existing subjects on Wikipedia (including specific persons mentioned in said documentation) and then create a Wikipedia page which covers the life and career of my father.

I'm very open to constructive criticism and suggestions. I hope to learn a lot from many of the dedicated contributors and editors on this site.Gordios (talk) 08:03, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
