September 22, 1975, was the birth of Scouts Royale Brotherhood at San
Sebastian College, Manila, Philippines. It was designed to be blood related to APO but some brothers in APO are against with the idea. That's why most of the SRB wasn't able to undergo APO initiation. It was time for the next generation to continue what the founders have started and for us elders - we search for our own path and careers. Back then, there were only 37 chartered members who were initiated at the San Sebastian Churchyard who mushroomed into different areas of national and international communities. They propagated our principles, ideals, and see to it that our path way through graduation will be a success. All through this years SRB/SRS was always alive and still spreading. We have nationwide chapters and alumni associations; chapters from abroad and still growing. Now, we have a national council office, coordinating districts, provincials and its officers. Thanks to the SRB National Council President and all Alumni for aiding SRB/SRS to start the operation as a nationwide conduit for all LOCAL and INTERNATIONAL ACCESS. In the United States our charitable institution for SRB/SRS is already approved and put into operation by this coming year. It will benefit all SRB/SRS. This year we applied for SRB/SRS Foundation, to help the needy brothers and sisters, for scholastic program. Let nature take its course and everybody will benefit from it. BM
Regarding about the history of the SRB, we, the APO Brods instrumental in the founding, need to
consult each other. Perceptions, appreciation and evaluation of the events that transpired during those historic times may differ from Brod -Brod. Of course, one can not alter history, but I'm talking here about the why's and the how's of the events as they in fact unfolded. Let me start with this. Just as the 1975 1st semester has started, a group of high school students went to us, and asked us to organize them into a fraternity for high schools, Jr. APO is how they want it. They were, before that, contacted by Tabets who were recruiting for jr. BE - SSC, the group said they'd rather be APO or nothing. A Brother was with them, and I can't recall who at this time. But I remember, the speaker of the group was Bing Marabut. He said, at first, they were about 20 or so, but before the Chapter finally decided to organize them, they were already 37. There was a lot of debate about it then. I can't remember who were against it. But those who supported it were the more active Brothers of the time. APO brothers were some of the residents who worked for it. An Apo brother was the clincher on the opinion and decision to make it a reality. When he verbalized his support, the Chapter finally gave birth to the SRB. LT
Bing Marabut headed the 37 Chartered Members in that unforgettable year and was responsible why
SRB/S has become nationwide and strong. Like any other brothers, I am a true-blooded member being initiated at San Sebastian College-Recoletos) in University Belt. My history of being a fratman led me and other founding brothers who conceptualized and organized the Scouts Royale Brotherhood on September 22, 1975 as approved by the APO brothers in a hotly contested election. The first chapter that they organized was Roosevelt College in Marikina. I got involved when the chartered members headed by a brother organized that said school in Concepcion, Marikina where they initiated a neophyte. SRB Brod Bing Marabut later joined APO in 1979 at Pi chapter. SRB/S officers with the help of their members professionalize its governance so it could stand at par with other best known fraternities/sororities. We should always be conscious of our basic principles because it is the foundation of SRB and most of the time we tend to do otherwise. Good leaders should also be good listeners. JC
