Me, in brief

edit

I've been editing Wikipedia since 2003, and have a username in good standing which dates back roughly that far, but I always made most of my edits anon for convenience (when you see an edit that needs doing, why log in?), and certain real-life stuff collided with online stuff so that I had to practically abandon that identity. I very rarely log in to that account, and when I do it's only to reply to people who post to my userpage. I think I used it to create one redirect in the last couple of years.

So anyway, that's basically explaining that I'm not socking. I'm pleasantly surprised by the welcome page that now comes up when you create an account.

I've been reading about the gender imbalance on Wikipedia, and read one particular article that reminded me of all the reasons I no longer made substantial edits, and thought to myself that I should try again. Things don't improve if people don't work for them. So I'm coming back, with a new name that both avoids the scary people who still check my old account and makes no bones about me being female. Maybe I'll conquer the social-fear that keeps me from making the edits I know need making, or maybe I'll just befriend some newer users and guide them in how things work. At least I'll do my best!
