After the season, Hoskins underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right meniscus.[1]
Hoskins and the Phillies avoided arbitration in 2023, agreeing to a one-year, $12 million contract for the season.[2] On March 23, during a spring training exhibition game against the Detroit Tigers, Hoskins suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury while tracking a sharp ground ball off the bat of Austin Meadows.[3] The injury required surgery and significant recovery time,[4] and Phillies president Dave Dombrowski announced that Hoskins would likely miss the entire 2023 season as a result.[5]
