Gerry Portales Yabes, (born on October 18, 1983 in Ilagan, Isabela) is currently living in Taguig since December 2021. A Filipino citizen. He speaks Ilocano, also knows how to speak English and Spanish. He is currently an electorate of Taguig since 2022 after transferring his voting rights from Pasig, originally an electorate of the city of Ilagan in Isabela.
He is a Wikipedia contributor since November 2005. He contributes in the English Wikipedia of any Philippines-related articles.[1] In 2018, he studied Spanish language and eventually became one of the few Filipinos contributing to Spanish Wikipedia, still on the same topic.
Education
editIn 2003, he graduated with a two-year Diploma in Information Technology at STI Ilagan. He was one of the recipients of La Verdad Christian College's full-grant scholarship program in 2009 under the program Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting until 2010. He studied the Spanish language and became a bilingual call center agent. Currently, he is studying for a degree in general business administration.
Occupation
editYabes began as a librarian in July 2003 until October 2008 at STI Ilagan. Following that, he worked as a salesman for a boutique in November 2008, a motor shop in November 2010, and a team leader for a department store in June 2011. He also worked as a data encoder for three years from January 2012 to December 2015. For a few months in 2015, he worked as a sales agent for a telecom sub-contractor. Then transition to work in the field as an interviewer from July 2015 to December 2016.
Over the past several years, he has built a robust career in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry, gaining extensive experience in customer service, technical support, and various operational roles. His journey began as a customer service representative in January 2017, where he honed my skills in effective communication, problem-solving, and delivering exceptional service to clients. This foundational role allowed him to understand the intricacies of customer needs and the importance of maintaining high satisfaction levels.
Progressing in his career, he transitioned into technical support roles, where he provided assistance for a wide range of technical issues. This experience enhanced his ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime for clients and contributing to their overall satisfaction. His proficiency with various tools and technologies has been instrumental in providing seamless support. In addition to customer service and technical support, he has taken on leadership roles such as quality assurance analyst, where he managed teams, and overseen operations to ensure that service-level agreements (SLAs) are met consistently. His leadership experience has equipped him with skills in team management, strategic planning, and process improvement. He has been involved in training new employees, optimizing workflows, and implementing best practices to enhance productivity and service quality.
From February 2023, During his time with IBM Business Services Inc., he improved his knowledge as a Process Innovation Professional. In this position, he oversaw payroll processing for Google's subsidiaries in Mexico, Peru, and several other Latin American countries. This work needed extensive knowledge of payroll systems, precise attention to detail, and the capacity to handle complicated, cross-border transactions. In addition, he participated in the EY GDS recruitment process in Malaga, Spain, where he demonstrated his strong Spanish language abilities and ability to operate in a broad, multicultural setting.
Throughout his tenure in the BPO industry, he has demonstrated a commitment to excellence, adaptability, and a customer-centric approach. His diverse skill set and comprehensive experience make him well-equipped to handle the demands of the fast-paced and dynamic BPO environment.
In March 2024 marks a watershed moment in his career journey, as he alter his focus to become a full-time executive virtual assistant. This new path allows him to apply his significant experience in customer service and technical assistance while also meeting the changing needs of modern enterprises. Throughout this journey, he has spent significant time self-studying and improving his talents in a variety of areas, including copywriting, lead generation, among others.

editYabes dreams to be part of the Philippine entertainment industry. On July 2, 2022, he initially took acting workshop at Spectrum Models Manila which is based in Makati City. From September 23, 2023 to October 29, 2023, he was one of the participants of PETA Theater Center's Theater Arts AM class with the showcase title of CTRL + ALT + DECEIT: Ito Ang Gameshow Ng Buhay Niyo!
Currently, he is a freelance talent for various local entertainment productions in the creation of movies, short films, theater shows, TV series, and vlogs. He is part of Pamilya Ordinaryo Production since August 2023, a production company which is based in Metro Manila, Philippines.
