Marmalade Souls was a pop/rock band that was formed in 2000 in Ostersund, Sweden when the group's two founders met and began writing music together. In 2006 a documentary was filmed about the band in Liverpool directed by Henrik Perälä, because even before a record contract, they had landed "the gig of their lives" at the International Pop Overthrow.

Just after releasing their debut album in 2007, their vocalist quit the group and they began to break up. Finally drummer Paddy Lawless left in December 2008 and they decided to dissolve completely [1] After the dissolution, the members participated in various other music projects. [2]

The group's music is inspired by pop music from the 60s, including The Beatles,[3][4] and they toured in Sweden and performed in England at the venue where the Beatles got their start, the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool, where the documentary På helig mark (On Holy Ground) was filmed about the band's rise to success.[5][6][7] Their debut album was called In Stereo, released 4 September the 2007 in North America.[8] PopMatters described it as a swirling folk-rock jangle together with close harmonies that, although never shying away from its inspirations, miracously never sounds dated either[1] and David Bash listed it as number 61 in his Top 125 Albums of 2007.[2]
