Nadir Ali (Urdu: نادرعلي) (born 1971) is a contemporary artist in Pakistan. He has worked in art mediums including; drawing, painting, sculpture, miniature, and more. Nadir has worked on projects all over Pakistan and abroad.

Life and Career edit

Nadir Ali Jamali was born in Larkana, Pakistan. he acquired his early education from Government Pilot School, Larkana. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National College of Arts ,Lahore, Pakistan in 1996. Jamali taught in Hunerkada College of Visual and Performing Arts, [1]Islamabad for 3 years (1996-99) and then spent a year in karachi working as a news magazine artist in Dawn group before joining University of Balochistan, Quetta in 2000, where he served for 9 years. In 2005, Nadir worked has worked along with Jamal Shah in Expo Aichi Nagoya, Japan[2], where range of round and relief sculptures were created on the different cultures of Pakistan, and participated in Face-off "An International Artists Camp on Intolerance" which was curated by Hunerkada College of Visual and Performing Arts, Islamabad 2012. In 2015, Nadir exhibited his second solo sculpture exhibition in artscene gallery, karachi[3][4][5][6] [7][8]and in Sindh Museum gallery Hyderabad 2017. Recently, he was part of Karachi biennale[9] and culture caravan 2017 which is a cross-cultural activity between Pakistan and China[10]. Currently, he is teaching painting and sculpture in institute of arts and design, University of Sindh, Jamshoro.[11] [12]

Recently, Nadir crafted the statue of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai [14][15], who was a noted Sindhi Sufi scholar, mystic, saint, and poet, widely considered to be the greatest Muslim poet of the Sindhi language. It is 16 foot high and is in monotone Whitish hue. It was unveiled on occasion of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai's 274th urs at Shrine of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai. On creating this sculpture, he received "Latif Award" which was given by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari[16]. He has also sculpted "Statue of Wisdom",[17] which is placed at zero point, in front of Allama I.I Kazi Central Library, University of Sindh, Jamshoro.
