User:Filll/AGF Challenge Rules-Help this editor to promote his own rules

  1. Another faked bluelink... good MC option though. Actually, this is not so wrong after all, if done appropriately. Obviously, he would have to immediately stop promoting his versions via welcoming messages and such. But other than that, he should indeed be encouraged to discuss changes to the existing policies at the respective talk pages or at WP:VPP. I would try and explain to him the huge inertia of this place and not to expect too much of an immediate effect. And I would also explain that making the tiniest actual change through sensible discussion would be far more in his own interest than quickly getting blocked for trying it in a spectacularly inappropriate way. 2. Absolutely - perhaps his views could be integrated or WP might find a diamond in the rough when it comes to people good with policy development. He should be made to stop his welcome messages, or modify them in such a way as to make it clear they are his personal guidelines and advice and not WP standard policy (unless through discussion his views are integrated or change existing policy then the whole thing is moot anyway). We should remember the basic tenet of Be Bold as well as the Fearless Leader's declaration of "break the rules" - in and of itself this editor is doing both of those things, if only in a way that is less than perfect.Akitora (talk) 10:38, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
  3. Anybody can write their own set of rules, as long as they don't incorrectly claim they represent community consensus. They can also advertise the rules, but only if it is clear that they are not binding and represent just an essay. A market of ideas is healthy, as long as it is transparent and fair.
