Editing behavior edit
Prophaniti edits with an "I'm right, you're wrong" or "my way or the highway" mentality, frequently resulting in edit warring. The user was blocked multiple times for warring before receiving his ban in March 2009. He either ignores any community based discussions and arguments, or avoids them all together by using the subject line of his edits to make a statement. Prophaniti has difficulty accepting simple guidelines and policies such as avoiding original research, be civil toward others, verifiability and the definition of a reliable source. Despite making some perfectly valid contributions to numerous articles, it is Prophaniti's frequent edit warring and inability to work with others, especially under Wiki guidelines, that awarded him an indefinite block.
Since Prophaniti's ban in March 2009, he has engaged in sockpuppetry and follows a similar editing behavior. Despite making his feelings toward Wikipedia perfectly clear, he continues to create new accounts or edit under his IP, which frequently changes. Through Prophaniti's SPIs, it was determined this his IP range was too wide for a range block. Each new account or IP generally resume editing as if he was never banned, and demonstrate knowledge of guidelines and policies only an experienced editor would understand. These include opening AFDs and PRODs or editing articles with subject lines involving wiki-terms like "weasel words, non-reliable sources". He may also be aware of how to edit semi-protected articles. When labeling him as a sock, he usually tries to deny it.[1] Even in the one instance he was labeled as a sock and offered a second chance.[2]
Most of Prophaniti's contributions revolve around groups or bands that play heavy metal music. Many of his edits have to do with genre, such as adding or removing genres from band or album infoboxes, and even editing articles for a specific sub-genre of heavy metal. Prophaniti could be seen by those in the music community of Wikipedia as a genre warrior. One of his accounts, User:Justgimmethedamnaccount, was created solely for opening an AFD for Latin metal for its third nomination, and chose to argue with editors that voted "keep". A vast majority of his edits throughout all accounts surround "X year in metal" including 2009 in heavy metal music and 2010 in heavy metal music. The latter of which has been protected three times for his disruptive editing.
Recently, Prophaniti has been leaving comments on Ant smusher's (talk • contribs) talk page, a heavy contributor of 2010 in heavy metal music.[3][4][5] Prophaniti's actions here are borderline meatpuppetry as they encourage and persuade Ant smusher's editing while 2010 in heavy metal music is semi-protected. As of December 2009 this has only been a minor issue at best, yet it should not be overlooked.
