FARAH BAYERO SALIH (born 11 March 1964) is a Nigerian Politician and Educationist who has served the country Nigeria in various capacities. Dr. Farah was recently appointed by the President of Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari as the Director General of Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, Zaria[1], after serving as the Acting Director General/ CE from (May 2019 to February 2020). He has particularly led a team of Chief Executives and Leaders of different segments of the Nigerian Transport and Logistics Industry to major Transport and Logistics hubs in the United Kingdom (UK) and Malaysia.
Early life
editDr. Farah Salih was born in Kagoro, Southern Kaduna parts of Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Farah
Education
editHe enrolled in L.E.A Primary School in 1971 and attained his first school leaving certificate in 1976. Dr. Farah achieved his West African Senior Secondary Certificate at Katsina Teachers College in 1981. In 1987, he earned a degree in Geography at Usman Danfodio University (formerly called the University of Sokoto). Because of his love for Public administration, Dr. Farah enrolled Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1992 to 1994. He further his diploma degree in Transportation at Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology[2] (NITT), Zaria from 1994 to 199. He earned his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1995 to 1999, after which he attained his Ph.D. (Management and Business Studies) at the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom from 2011 to 2017.
Public Service and Professional Career
editDr. Farah started as a class Teacher in Dustin-ma Local Government council from 1981 to 1982, after which he completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps in 1988 as DFRRI Project Supervisor and thereafter joined National Population Commission as the Census Cartographic Officer from 1991-1994. Dr. Farah is currently working at the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology[3], Zaria, and was recently appointed as Director General of NITT by President Muhammadu Buhari[4] in February 2020 after serving as the Acting Director General/CE NITT, Zaria from May 2019 to February 2019. Before becoming the ADG, NITT, he was the Director Training from 2013 to 2019 and many other key positions in the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, Zaria.
Ad-Hoc Appointments
editHe was the Secretary of Logistics Committee 1991 Census, Kaduna State from 1991 – 1992. He took part in NITT/Shell Petroleum Development Company Consultancy Project from 1998 to 2000, served as the Secretary, NITT/Rivers State Transportation Study Project from 1999 to 2001. He was the Secretary, NITT/Railway Pensioners Verification Project from 2000 to 2002, served as Secretary, Master Plan for Integrated Transport Infrastructure in Nigeria (MITI) from 2000 to 2004. He is also the current Chairman of Nuclear Integrated Services (Nig) Ltd.
