She founded the journal Artus in 1979, and remained editorial secretary until it ceased publication. In 1988, she co-founded the Centre de l’Imaginaire Arthurien, located since 1990 at the Château de Comper, and has presided over both this and the Centre d’interprétation des légendes celtiques ever since.

She is occupied by exhibitions and conferences while continuing to regularly publish novels on her favourite subjects.

Biography

edit

Born in the Dordogne, since childhood Claudine Glot was interested by mythical and fabulous legends, encouraged by her mother's family's extensive library and her teachers. She has never known her father's family who were originally from Algeria.

She kept her taste for tales and legends, studying Latin, Greek and modern literature, before specializing in the Celtic domain during a period when these tales were not widely known. At the same time, by an accident of circumstance, she moved to Brittany, near the Forest of Brocéliande, and discovered the local tales. She married Hervé Glot, whose brief entry into Breton activism has often been criticised and wrongly associated with the movements of the extreme right, which she never joined. In the early 1970s, she sold Breton newspapers and marched "with bagpipes and people in costume"[1].

Journal Artus

edit

In 1979, she founded the journal Artus in Nantes. Announced by the magazine Pays de Bretagne, the journal included feature articles devoted to Celtic and Nordic countries as well as presenting distinctive Breton regional features. She received contributions from people of all political persuasions and remained the editorial secretary until it ceased publication.

edit

Author of twenty books on the Celtic and medieval world, Claudine Glot began writing articles on these subjects in magazines such as GEO or Grands Reportages''. Glot has mainly realised adaptations for young readers. The proceedings of a conference held at Metz in 2009 praised her approach to writing, that "often facilitates reading for young people, to the extent that they always respect medieval sensabilities."[2].

edit
