User:ErrantX/Essays/Admin reconfirmation & recall

I realise that this is a perennial proposal, but this essay addresses some of my own ideas for sysop "re-confirmation". Sysops are currently "lifers" here on Wikipedia, but should this be the case? With declining nominations , many sysops retiring and regular concerns within the wider community of problem admins is there a growing need for a more streamlined adminship process.

This year the admin reform task force is looking at improvements to "Request for adminship", a small part of the whole process. The reform work is a brilliant step forward, at least in the short term, but there may be room for a lot wider renovations of the admin eco-system.

Abusive admins edit

We all know sysops are power hungry ego-maniacs out to ban as many editors as they can get their hands on. Or at least, that is what some of the more disillusioned editors would have you believe. In truth, their views are not baseless. Some, of course, are trolls, vandals or are simply disruptive - in their own mind completely in the right and abused by the rote masses. However, there are many cases of individuals who legitimately feel they (or others) are hard done by.
