My name is Erica Ryu, a senior undergraduate student at Washington University majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Writing. I am currently an undergraduate researcher in the Strassmann-Queller lab, in which I've researched the cheater-cooperator relationship between two strains of Pseudomonas fluorescens and how it is influenced by Dictyostelium discoideum. I have also researched the factors that resist the proliferation of selfish mutants that break down multicellular systems using D. discoideum as a synthetic model organism. I have contributed to articles relating to my projects, and I hope to continue contributing my knowledge about social behaviors and evolution. My research interest in microbiology has stemmed from my extensive experience in the Strassmann-Queller lab, and has guided me to seek graduate programs in microbiology in the near future.
