Tom Lieber (born Month 1, 0000) is a Luthier and founder of Lieber Instruments, a company specialising in guitar manufacture. Born and raised in Place, in 1974 Lieber began an apprenticeship with Doug Irwin in Northern California[1]. During this apprenticeship, he worked with Jerry Garcia and Pete Sears as clients. In 1976 Lieber began to develop his own solo designs, culminating in the foundation of the Spellbinder Corporation in 1980 alongside Stanley Clarke[2]. The Spellbinder Corporation filed a number of patents under Lieber's name, including designs for a bass guitar[3] with aerodynamics for a stage setting. To maintain the rarity of this new Spellbinder Bass model, only 50 were only produced, including a custom left-handed model for Paul McCartney.
