I am Dr. B. Rey de Castro, an environmental health researcher and Westat Senior Environmental Statistician with 20 years of experience in biostatistics, environmental epidemiology, exposure assessment, toxicology, and policy. At Westat, I utilize my considerable background in biostatistical and epidemiologic analysis in a variety of studies to elucidate the health consequences of pollutant exposures. Before joining the Westat staff, my research focused on combining environmental sampling with microarray assays of gene expression induced by airborne particulate matter in order to understand its toxicity. I also have a strong background in environmental policy implications from my earlier work as a legislative and regulatory representative for environmental interests.
