PetroSkills Alliance

PetroSkills is an alliance between Oil and Gas Companies with Oil and Gas Consultant International to provide petroleum training. PetroSkills was formed in 2001 with an alliance between BP, Shell and OGCI (Oil and Gas Consultant International). The PetroSkills Alliance now includes Halliburton , Saudi Aramco, Occidental Petroleum, ConocoPhillips, Chevron, Repsol YPF, Marathon, Swift Energy, PTTEP, Woodside Petroleum, Baker Hughes, BG Group, Nexen Inc., Talisman Energy, MOL Group, Pertamina, Maersk Oil, TTG Systems, John M. Campbell & Company, the University of Trinidad & Tobago, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and Blade Energy Partners. PetroSkills is “…recognized for its breadth and quality of course offerings across an expansive set of more than 200 knowledge areas within upstream, downstream, and HSE petroleum subject disciplines.”

Member companies joined together to create detailed skill and Competency Maps, which act as a guide for the 190+ short courses, taught to industry professionals in over 40 locations worldwide. Competency Maps are an analysis tool and software application that allows users to asses their skills base to identify gaps in their training, areas needing improvement or mastered skill areas. J. Ford Brett is the Managing Director of PetroSkills based in Tulsa, OK with offices in the United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, Kingdom of Bahrain and a training center in Katy, TX.

Petroskills also offers classes that allow participants to receive the United Kingdoms National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health through a series of classes. PetroSkills also expanded their training to Operations and Maintenance technicians in 2010 with a partnership the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.

In 2010 BV Investment Partners a private equity firm became a majority stakeholder in PetroSkills.
