Dutch Bros Coffee is the largest privately held drive-through coffee chain in the United States.[1] It is headquartered in Grants Pass, Oregon, with company-owned and franchise locations expanding throughout the western United States.[2][3][4]
Although Dutch Bros will forever be an oregon-based coffee chain, it continues to increase locations throughout the pacific northwest. Since first opening in 1992, Dutch Bros has expanded its drive throughs to seven different states in the U.S., with over 370 locations and counting.[5] With recent partnership with TSG Consumer Partners, Dutch Bros

The company was founded on February 12, 1992 by Dane and Travis Boersma, brothers of Dutch descent, in Grants Pass, Oregon.[6] It originally sold coffee from pushcarts around town,[7] and by 2018 had over 300 coffee stands in seven Western states, with the majority being drive-thrus and a few walk-ins.[8][9]
Co-founder Dane Boersma, was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis also known as Lou Gehrig's disease in 2005, passing away only a few short years later in 2009.[10] Boersma, 55, died at his home in Grants Pass, Oregon. [11]

The Dutch Bros. co-founder, Travis Boersma, was featured on the American version of the television show "Undercover Boss" in 2013.[12][13] The company was on the Forbes Small Giants: America's Best Small Companies list in 2017.[14]
Donations edit
The company's mantra is to "make a difference, one cup at a time".[15] The company holds an annual fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in honor of the co-founder Dane Boersma.
