Advice on his father Relationship with father limited but important to him In college: chilled with wild guys. In college: was accused of being a politician Believes that he is tolerant but to a point. Attempts to not be judgemental. Came back from East in Autumn. Exempts Gatsby from his judgements. For example, he wants the world to be morally right, except for Gatsby. Possibly homosexual Comes from a prominent family in the Mid-West. He calls his family a 'clan' with traditions passed down from the Dukes of Buccleuch His family line was actually founded by Nick's great-brother (who he supposedly resembles), who came to the United States in 1851 and sent a substitute to fight in the Civil War in order to build his hardware business. His father still holds that business to this day. Nick graduated from Yale in 1915. He participated in the First World War and enjoyed it.
