Clement Dengkec Mapath

Clement Dengkec Mapath, also known as Senator Clement Bey or Bey Century, is a South Sudanese election analyst, political activist, writer, and lawyer who lives in South Sudan. He was born in 1994, as the oldest child to Mapath Mangath, he was destined to be the head of the family and take care of the family's cattle. But Deng insisted on going to school, something his eldest couldn't approve of. To go to School Deng had to leave his village to go attend school in town.

Early Life and Family

Mapath was born to Mapath Mangath Madhieu Mabior Ajak and Alual Muorwel Kon Puondak. He is one of 17 siblings, with eight brothers and nine sisters.

Education Deng started his early education in 2006, he was not permitted by his parents because he was considered a first-born son. According to Dinka, the firstborn son is seen to be the potential head of the family in case of the demise of the father. He completed his primary school in 2012 at Don Bosco Bongo Primary School, Tonj, Warrap State and later enrolled in Chinese Friendship Secondary School, Juba, Central Equatoria and eventually complete his secondary school in 2015 at the same school.

Mapath holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Zagazig University in Egypt and a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from the University of Juba in South Sudan.

Career

Mapath works as a political activist, writer, and lawyer. He has taken part in several electoral processes and has worked to promote democratic values and human rights in South Sudan. During his college years, he also participated in Student politics becoming the chairperson of the Tonj Students Association in Egypt. During his tenure, Deng advocated for the implementation of the Alexandria University branch in Tonj.
